FA Cup Final ............and Ipswich Town's Fate 09:14 - May 26 with 1094 viewsturtle2

Watching the 2 foreign franchise sides who operate out of Manchester battle it our at Wembley (or was it the emirates, or st mary's or anyone of a number of no character stadiums that now all look the same in English football) I fear we've had the best of it in the last 2 years - Seriously where do you go from here ? Trying to get promoted from league 2, or league one or the Championship - even putting together back to back promotions based on nothing but organising what you have , some proper talent , not always a reliance on money and a genuine feeling of togetherness the journey of Ipswich over the last 2 years encompasses eveything "RIGHT" with football.
Now we find ourselves at the destination (I'm reminded of the old expression its better to travel hopefully than it is to arrive) whereby its bout one thing only = money. If you dont spend 100/200/300 million on players immediately - you have no real hope in hell. You operate in a league now where the football is dull (do people actually find Man City an attractive team to watch - Ive fallen asleep the 3 times Ive tried in the last few years) , where overpaid mrons with no loyalty behave like brats and where money rules the roost - and nothing else.
I sincerely hope we go back to league 2 and we can start again and start a new journey = the least 2 years have been the best in 45 for me as an Ipswich supported - that feeling will not be repeated for a long time, trust me

We are 90% foreign owned.

That money funded promotion out of L1 by spending more than the rest of the league combined.

Be careful with your narrative.

We’ve had more joy out of our foreign owners in the past 2 years than we did the 15 years that preceded them under our English one.

Man City aren’t my cup of tea in terms of playing style but they are one of the strongest football units the world has ever seen in terms of work rate and team ethic.

Queries and corrections
1. 2 foreign franchise sides
Erm, it's 2 sides owned by overseas investors, like Ipswich, they are not franchises.
Do you even know what a franchise is? I'm not clued up on US Sport, but it is my understanding that when ownership changes hands this often leads to a change of city. Like MK Dons or Arsenal.
2 back to league 2
We've never played in 4th tier of English football in current format, this assumes back in this instance means return rather than relegation
3. Overpaid morons
The market dictates what they're paid, and I'd think again about the moron tag

This.

Although much is undisclosed and subject to guesswork, there are suggestions that we had the highest ever wage bill, and highest total transfer spend EVER in League One. Given we were signing players like Morsy, Broadhead, Hirst etc from the leagues above, that’s quite possibly true. We built a Championship team in League One.

Others viewed us as the Man City of League One. Weds had a high wage bill but were reliant on free transfers.
