Can any of our Welsh posters on 09:18 - Jun 6 with 843 views | Keno | Im not welsh but I think the gist is he took a £200k donation from a donor who has since been proven to taken money off the government he shouldnt have (green washing or something a project that wasnt green) Gething denies he knew about the issues and wont apologise or pay it back. Tories call a non binding vote of no confidence which Gething should have been able to win, but as 2 or 3 labour members didnt show up he lost He doesnt have to resign and says he wont. not sure it puts him a good light and the while (ge)things is a mess [Post edited 6 Jun 2024 9:20]

Yes, then he sacked an up and coming minister blaming here for leaking the details of the donation to the media according to this week's Private Eye. Alienated Labour Members then didn't support him in the Confidence Vote.

Incidentally, and regardless of whether they are the authors of their own downfall, it is sad to see what has happened so soon after their election to the first Muslim leader of a government in Europe (Yousaf) and the first black leader of a government in the UK (and maybe in Europe).

Humza Yousaf had the great misfortune to become leader of the SNP just as the holes that Sturgeon et al had been patching up became more and more obvious, he then compounded it with some fairly clumsy political judgement.
