And to thing that we have a bunch of people on here who always complain about the Guardian and dismiss it. Their loss - that’s a great read. Well worth my subs today.

How to tame a tiger indeed.

It feels like we are really reaching a tipping point in the PL - how the City issue is dealt with will either keep it all together for another few seasons, or destroy it and lead to an inevitable European Super League.

I don't see how Man City can avoid a penalty when it goes to the hearing in November. This seems to be a preemptive strike on their part which has an ugliness in it trying to present themselves as the oppressed and perhaps with a racial overtone.

Even if they win this, and somehow avoid a massive points deduction in November, they could still be prevented from entering the champions league if UEFA deem them in breach (is my understanding).

You get the feeling that this will re-ignite the whole break away European super league thing. Im not sure they would be allowed in the EPL as well though if the parting was like this. And ultimately people like us probably wouldn't pay to watch the super league. Im not convinced that financially it would have bigger appeal than what they currently have.

But its hard to see Man City just taking their medicine now.

When you join a club you know the rules. You can try and change them or you can walk away. Bye bye city……Majority rules.
