I assumed it was for her celebration for the 7 October terrorist attacks. I'm all for right-wing Labour candidates being unseated by left-wing alternatives, but not ones like this. She would probably be quite at home in the Workers' Party. [Post edited 25 Jun 2024 21:38]

Did you actually read your own link? I don't believe you would support somebody who celebrated the events of 7/10.

She is 23. So that's a maximum of two years after graduation, then. Quite the expert. And people mock Starmer for saying he was Director Of Public Prosecutions!

Ones like what? She left Labour because of Starmer supporting withholding water. She wasn't expelled. In late October, Leanne Mohamad relinquished her membership of the Labour party, dismayed after Keir Starmer said Israel had the right to withhold water and power from Palestinians trapped in Gaza. “When Keir Starmer said what he did on LBC, I was like, I’m done with politics, I’m done with this whole system,” she said. She was not the only one. Although Starmer later sought to clarify his stance, the interview sparked criticism and prompted resignations among Labour councillors, which was seen as a sign that the party’s position on Gaza could prove costly at the ballot box. You mean this...?? “A historic sight of the people of Gaza breaking out of the world’s largest open-air prison – captive population of 2 million besieged for 15 years under Israeli blockade." ...it seems accurate. You might not like it but it is accurate.

That tweet should be printed on every Labour leaflet in that area.

The historic sight of them smashing their way through the border fence so they could massacre hundreds of unarmed civilians in their homes and at a music festival. Streeting is one of the worst people in the PLP but even he's better than someone who celebrates this sort of thing. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You seem to have added some words to her tweet. I imagine that she deleted it when the detail of some of the atrocities committed came to light. That does not detract from the fact that many will have celebrated the act of 'breaking out' itself. I don't think the character of a person can be determined from one deleted tweet but in her own words.... When asked if she regretted it, Mohamad said: “The tweet sought to address the punishing 17-year siege of Gaza … As a person of Palestinian heritage, I have always sought to bring global attention to the unjust circumstances that the people of Palestine endure. I speak extensively on the prevailing injustices committed on and after October 7th and have worked in human rights policy, advocating for the right of all people to live in safety and security, and importantly with equal rights under the law.” When asked what made her different, Mohamad responded: “I’m young, I’m a Muslim, a visible Muslim woman, I am Palestinian and I am local. I am actually from my community. I’m not being parachuted in. I’m not here to represent corporate interests or party agendas, I’m simply here to represent my people. I’m not subjected to any party lines or party whips, so that’s what makes me different – a true voice of the people by the people.” I hope Streeting gets beat.

There are two things wrong with her comment. It wasn't 'breaking out', it was a special military operation to inflict maximum disruption and then retreat with as many hostages as possible. It wasn't the Palestinian people, it was one group from an armed militia that do not represent all of the Palestinian people. Apart from that she got it right about seventeen years of extreme oppression by a flawed democracy ( https://en.globes.co.il/en/article-israel-falls-in-economist-democracy-index-eve .)
