I was expecting all of it to take place on the river, rather than just the athlete parade.
I was envisaging the river-borne version of a typical carnival procession. Perhaps have the French version of the Scouts in there somewhere, having used copious amounts of cardboard and papier maché to transform their boat into a freight lorry. |  |

Mind you, after what happened with Notre Dame, you'd think they would shy away from having someone running around with a naked flame on the rooves of their most historic buildings!
