I’ve also seen someone suggest “two-tier sentencing” now for a guy who set fire to a police van. Several previous convictions, a spell in youth offenders and he got 2.5 years for it. Seems l if he to me.

To think that white people are over-policed relative to the rest of the population resident in Britain, you'd have to disbelieve pretty much every statistic and study ever produced about the criminal justice system in the UK.
Not to mention you'd have to believe that rank-and-file police were unusually liberal and left-leaning which is the opposite of what has been found in both polling and in several investigations (periodically undercover journalists re-discover that locker room culture in police stations and academies is often quite ... authoritarian).

It is very odd, but also appeals to the selfishness of people when they get into trouble etc. When you look at the Manchester airport stuff and compare it to how the police handled the far right it does provide a bit of mental gymnastics for people.
