Hmmm... few reasons to be concerned.... a few positive aspects too 21:59 - Aug 28 with 880 viewsSimonds92

Some people will no doubt embarrass themselves tonight with a complete overreaction. None of those players have played together and that was obvious, the possession was good without playing the ball forwards at pace in to the areas to cause danger. Phillips was alright, Townsend was decent. Unfortunately Chaplin and Burgess stand out as being poor performances, not sure if the latter's confidence has been knocked. Other than that Johnson was poor again. All the others looked ok.

It's disappointing because this will maybe dent their confidence a little bit when it might have given us a boost with a comfortable win. Also miss the chance to get more games in to the new players.
Certainly not anything to panic about at the minute.

The new players will be named in the first XI at the first opportunity - Townsend aside. It's the old players who won't get the run outs now.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

Agree Townsend looked decent. The best thing I can say about Johnson is that he’d be good backup to Donacien on the right. Poor. Midfield of Cajuste and Phillips failed to create anything worthwhile. Accept they’re new because it was definitely a team of strangers tonight. Not impressed.Naively I did expect more from our multi million pound talent against Wimbledon.Another few weeks on the training pitch required. Hope we’re not too far adrift by then.

It will still be a blend for a number of weeks imo unless we want performances like tonight.
Phillips & Ogbene would be the ones from tonight I would bring in to the starting XI for Fulham with Johnson & Luongo dropping out. Then we have 2 weeks on the training ground to really get them gelling.

The disappointment, for me, about Johnson is that he rarely, if ever, beats his marker. But I do think he needs a bit of credit for all the times he brings the ball forward, the team seem to be giving him that responsibility more on the right side than Townsend got on the left. Also Johnson and Ogbene combined well, I get that Ogbene has just arrived and so was likely to be subbed at half time but it was a shame to see that pairing broken up.

Poll: What was in Wes Burns' imaginary cup of tea ?
