Probably a fairly easy match for him but thought he did well. I don't think he showed a card (probably should have done when their player threw Broadhead over after the whistle had gone). Kept the game flowing and got the big calls right.

He was very good…. But although I haven’t seen it back, I though there should have been a card or one colour or another the penalty?

Oh, also found it a bit odd/amusing that Coventry came back out to warm up again before the start and the ref came out to tell them to get back in ready to come out ... and they just carried on warming up again anyway.

The ref did let a few strong tackles go, but he was consistent through the game. The Lino's were making instant decisions on their own when something happened close to them, no looking at the ref then flag when he told the lino what to do. Very different from a PL league game.

Agreed. The other thing I found both refreshing and reassuring regarding the officials was that there was no VAR, so no ridiculous delays in checking the penalty, offside goal etc, yet imo the referee still got the major decisions spot on even without the technology.

100% this.

We said the same thing walking back to the car… it was refreshing not to have VAR over-analyse everything.

Combined with a well-reffed game it improved the match no end.
