UEFA Champions league 07:30 - Apr 9 with 1326 viewsgtsb1966

Just said on the radio that with Arsenal winning last night it now means the Premier league will have 5 teams in the competition next season. Ridiculous that they still call it the champions league. Time for a rebrand.

Well with the ridiculous group stage, UEFA got their Superleague wet dream by the back door. Arsenal will probably get to the final and bottle it, as per…

And to be honest, it’s only once you get to see the best teams compete like last night that it feels worth watching. That second half was incredible (I didn’t get home until half time, so missed the first).

It’s a nonsense competition now in the early stages.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Could potentially have 7 in it if Villa win the CL (and don't finish in the top 5 in the PL) and Man Utd or Spurs win the Europa league.

Ridiculous really!

The coefficients for the UEFA Cup when Town won it produced some quite surprising disparities. Of the 32 teams, W.Germany had 5 (one was a bonus as the Albanian team dropped out); Netherlands and Belgium had 4 each; England, Spain, Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and E.Germany had 3 each, and France and Italy only had two each.

Seems remarkable now that Belgium could have twice as many teams as France, especially as Saint Etienne were probably THE prized scalp that Town took along the way. But thinking about it I guess back then Belgian football really was much stronger than French. (The French really DID like rugby.) The four Belgian teams were S.Liege, Molenbeek, Lokeren and Anderlecht.

According to TNT sports the other night, the maximum number of English teams in all European comps next season could be x11.
Staggering.
They’re getting their European super league in gradual instalments.
Roll on the Championship.

Poll: September 2025. Which one?
