Just wanted to get a message out there today, as my car overheated and went into limp mode - thankfully - only 100 yards from a motorway services.
I'm not completely car illiterate, but when my engine overheating sensor kicked in, I knew I needed to stop asap.
.
I didn't even know where the engine coolant reservoir was in my engine,.but I asked a random guy if he knew where it was. He showed me, helped me top up the coolant,.check for air bubbles, tried to check for leaks, and checked the oil for evidence of head gasket damage. What an absolute gentleman. Didn't get his name but he is Scottish, was dressed all in Hi-Vis, and was in Bury St Edmunds this morning.

Yeah, he seemed to know his basic car maintenance very well and was very pleased to help. I offered to buy him a coffee or something at Greggs to say thanks, but he declined. He was so accommodating. You really can't overstate how lovely it is to be rescued by a complete stranger. It is the very best of human nature. | | | |
