How to get to the commentary position at Goodison Park:

I assume it stayed that way up until the end of the season just gone.

Scary...but a bit better protected than the cameraman at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, see clip below around sixteen seconds in:

Always remember John Motson sitting on the roof of Roots Hall in the snow for an FA Cup tie.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Getting to the comms position at Villa Park is pretty bad too.

You have to get up to the top tier of the Doug Ellis stand via a metal spiral staircase that wobbles as you go up it, (Kammy refuses to use it), then you have to walk up to the very back of the stand.

Once there, there is a vertical ladder that takes you up to a cat walk (whilst carrying 20 kgs of camera kit), the cat walk comes back out across the stand until almost level with the touch line, and through a door onto the gantry.

Great view, but that walk to the gantry is terrifying

Edit: attaching a pic what I took up there from my Insta.

Edit: another that shows the gantry a bit better.
