I've just been eating a raspberry/yoghurt 'sponge' cake, which is highly reminiscent - visually - of a Battenberg, but extremely succulent, moist and tasty.

I’m going to start calling for bans for posters who put full stops at the end of titles. And pubic floggings. Phil’s livelihood depends on words and even he’s not picked up on it. It’s creeping in a lot lately. Standards are definitely slipping!

I made a banana yoghurt sponge cake with dulce de leche buttercream and walnuts the other day. It was excellent.

I'm thinking about doing a turkish delight fruit cake, with chopped pieces of turkish delight in with the cherries, sultanas and raisins.

Sounds like a gateway cake, you may think you can handle it but are you hard enough to take on the full splendour of untarnished Battenberg ? Many are called but few are chosen to have the perfect palette required.

No. I like Battenberg ‘window cake’, always did, always will. I’ll defend it to the last - then I’ll surrender.

I rarely eat cake, but somebody did a lemon and raspberry sponge cake for Mrs C the other day and it was mmmm.

I've just discovered that it was a Mary Berry recipe, and I believe a Mary is street for rolling papers of the blue variety?
