It could be that his head (and agent) says go to Forest/Brentford, but his heart says stay with the man and club who have brought on his game so well (and can improve further). Maybe his 'head not being in the right place' is this conflict. It's just as feasible as he wants out, given we don't actually know one way or the other.
We also have to remember he's still pretty young and hasn't been in this situation before.
By all accounts he's not the sort of player to be difficult and/or down tools (I think Nick Ames said something similar) so just a flat refusal to train/play would be out of character. Might be something to bear in mind before slating the player on social media (which definitely won't help him decide to stay).

Omari is still an Ipswich player so until he’s not, he has my full support and the benefit of any doubt about his intentions.
I do think this ‘he is still young’ label is cr@p though. He is not a kid, he knows what he wants and I’m sure he will do the right thing for him which is not necessarily good for us. |  |

But until Brentford, Forest or whoever actually offer the money Town want (£40m) he isn't going anywhere.
Not saying they won't but I find it crazy they had a chance to buy him for £35m, for the agreed contractual T&C, and the club couldn't stop him moving, but neither did, now that failure will cost them an extra £5m.
However the cynic in me believes neither has any intention of paying that extra £5m, they are just trying to unsettle Omari with the aim he can force a £35m move. |  | | |

My guess (and it is a guess) is Omari wants to be in the PL and would favour a move back there. There's a bit of sensationalism around it though, he's got a good head on his shoulders and clearly has a lot of respect for McKenna. If a move doesn't materialise I would be very surprised if he's anything but professional and committed.

No-one said he's a kid. He is still young, though, at 21. And certainly inexperienced when it comes to choosing/moving clubs. How do we know he knows exactly what is the right thing for him? That might be the issue, that he doesn't. | |

I think the not playing while interest swirls situation is a norm across football nowadays. See Dibling did the same on the weekend. Don't think we should worry about it too much as fans. What will be will be, but I certainly won't hold it against Omari if he stays. |  | | |

Definately agree with this.
There's a narrative certainly rumbling on on twitter that he needs to leave and we need to move on. I'm really against this. If he's sold that's absolutely fine, but publicly slating him when we have no true idea of the picture is bad, especially when this will be so heavily agent influenced.

I would think he's getting pressure from all sides, his agent, mates playing in the PL, and his family. They're all probably saying don't risk another season in the Championship, you could get an injury that scuppers a move, it's a waste of your talents, etc,etc
I'm sure that he gets a more balanced argument from KM and maybe other coaches and players here: why risk a move to a mid-table side who might struggle/sack their manager in a few months, you'll be sat on the bench most games, still got a lot to learn and improve before you'll be in the main England squad, etc,etc.
He knows he's wanted and valued here and will play in the PL again anyway, maybe he'll just flip a coin to decide at the end of the day. Best of 3 though, eh. |  |

I consider myself a fairly sensible chap ... and also that I was a fairly sensible man in my late teens/early 20s.

I think he does understand.
I think McKenna and him speak regularly, openly and will do what's best for the club first, then Omari.
The club has no interest in upsetting Omari as it's the kind of situation that can put off potential signings in the future, players coming here want to know they're well regarded and looked after.
There's a balance protect the club's biggest asset that's completely at odds with the player though, so it's not easy. Needs a lot of sensible heads.
Easy to say to Omari, stay here, see where we are in Jan, but as mentioned, an injury could derail his entire career, you just don't know.
The money on offer to play for the PL would likely have to be well worth it imo. He won't be going 'just' for PL football. It'll be for a multitude of reasons. |  | | |

In these sort of situations people often trot out the 'what if he got a career-ending injury?' line but honestly, how often does that actually happen (as a player's deciding whether to move clubs)? Very rare I'd have thought, and I doubt it's something players genuinely think might happen to them. Of course it can happn but I don't think a young, fit player will be thinking about that too much in their decision making. | |

I hope Omari stays and forms a good working relationship with Young.
If he does and performs to the level we know he can then clubs will be falling over to sign him in January at at a price we are prepared to accept.
