is not particularly good. They usually seem a good idea on paper after impressing at that level but history shows they tend not to handle the move very well and usually an utter disaster. Here's hoping Nunez breaks that mould.

Who was the last ex nodger to handle the step up?

John Deehan maybe, seem to recall we got him sometime during our mid 80’s slump, for a season.

He certainly scored a few, nowhere near the game to goal ratio he had at Norwich though.

Not sure anyone has made the move in either direction and covered themselves in glory.

Maybe our resident Norwich correspondent can advise how they feel about Liam Gibbs, or whether Clive Woods or John Miller literally cut the mustard back in the 70’s…?

John Deehan netted 12 in 86/87 in a front partnership with Jocky Wilson who netted 25 goals that season.

I believe Trevor Putney went to them as part of the Deehan deal. Think he has probably been the most successful in crossing the divide.

Clive Baker is probably the answer to your question. He was a few years after Deehan, and did ok.

Not much cop then, outscored by an overweight darts player.

Gotta love Joe. Played decent football, and brought through Youth Team players at a rate, and with success, not seen since Sir Bobby.

"The twins", as he called Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose, probably being the best of the lot, who had already had their debuts, but he trusted them and made them guaranteed starters. Then there was Shane Supple, Owen Garvan, Lewis Price and Ian Westlake amongst others.

I would say Richard Naylor was probably the embodiment of the Royle era.

It's a pretty small sample size. There have been some moderate successes in either direction, but yes, nothing spectacular.

Nunez has every chance of being a success, although I do struggle to see how he's going to be used. Rotating with Jens? As one of our multitude of number 10s?

He doesn't scream starter in our system, and yet he is a quality player. I'm hoping Kieran has a cunning plan. Not obvious yet what the plan is in very many areas of the pitch, but here's hoping...

Two things that I remember clearly about that game.

1. Just after the final whistle I remember thinking ‘what the hell’ had I just seen because it was a really odd game of football.

2. As I was walking out - one of the stewards had just collected his winnings from betting the correct score at the Ladbrokes stand in the NS. Apparently he used to put £1 or £2 on odd score predictions and on that day, he cleaned up.
