I was thinking that at half time. Not sure if it's by design or if that's just the way it played out, but who fecking cares. Tonight was just the medicine and hopefully will now bring confidence gushing from the group.

Had to be tactical. Hirst was playing as a midfielder at times off the ball. At one point in open play we had about 8 player in and around our own box.

It does make sense to be looking down that avenue as if we do go back up that's pretty much how we have to play in the prem.

a niche perspective

Too early to tell for me, when Akpom was on the pitch he sat behind Hirst more than Smozdics (or Chaplin, remember him ?) does; this makes the three more of a triple prong than the previous attacking line. Also Cajuste is more of a winning touch and feed player whereas Luongo carried the ball; again the substitution changed things as Núñez seems to have a freer role (but that might just be from the freedom that coming onto the pitch when we are 4-0 up brings.)

I would like to think that McKenna had a game plan for the Blades that involved drawing them in and hitting back when they were a bit out of shape, the tactics will undoubtedly be different for Blackburn and am interested to see what develops in that match.

Yep. Worked a treat, for all the fans criticism McKenna has adapted with the players he has. Saying that sheff united were awful.

just looked at the stats, 47% possession and 21 shots is a massive outlier in the mckenna era!
