How is VAR working in the FA Cup 5th Round? 14:56 - Mar 8 with 503 viewsTresBonne

Thought this last night and now again in the Port Vale v Sunderland game. How do Port Vale have it all installed? I thought from memory it cost us a load of money and had to add 80 odd cameras when we went up.

Do all grounds in the country have it installed now and just don't use it until required?

It’s a f’king joke. Shouldn’t be in the competition at all.

Either all or nothing can’t be introducing it in the 5th round of a competition ffs.

(But to answer your question, it’s just a few extra cameras isn’t it? Plus all the extra ones for the TV coverage anyway)

presumably its primary purpose is to act as an additional help to the Prem teams (who are familiar with it) and make sure the 'right' teams progress to the latter stages.

Yeah of course, it's a shambles. If it's not in round one, it shouldn't be in any of the rounds.

I also thought it was pretty expensive for us to install VAR, so I guess the non-Premier League clubs have a lighter version with fewer cameras. For many it will be their first experience of the system, such as Wrexham having the equaliser ruled out yesterday.
