Oh, I know the designer behind the stadium project extremely well, and you're 100% correct that this will not happen as it is shown in the renders and images. The price quoted for Heatherwick's design will be many times more than the club want to pay. He will get dropped from the scheme, replaced by a real architect, the chimneys will be value engineered down so there are maybe one or two as gestures but not for structural or ventilation reasons, and they will be even more Disney-fied than the current aesthetic.

Having said that. To get Heatherwick in is cringe and embarrassing enough, but to add Stephen Knight to the design team is frankly hilarious and the whole Peaky Blinders Brum cosplay is really, really cringe, yes. | |
