Big strong quick back 4, with Davis played left mid for his movement and fitness and to give us an occasional outlet. Along with McAteer, Taylor and Matusiwa the middle of the park has lots of energy. Up top Hirst will work very hard and we have Mehmeti in the free role and the 'match winner' with lesser defensive responsibilities. This is my keep it tight and nick a goal x1.
This next scenario is a HOME game against a side on a terrible run on their travels. Perhaps have been beaten by at least two goals and failed to score in five matches. Maybe think of this as a Fulham or a Sunderland.

This team is much less protected and more likely to be at least 50% possession team. The defence has Davis back at left back playing a role he made famous under McKenna. Tayloe and Matusiwa are the energy in the middle, because we have no one else who fill that role. This time I have Johnson on the right playing a role similar to the one he played at Spurs last time out. I have Jack Clarke on the Left as I think he is so dangerous when he is in the mood and at the moment has the nod in front of Philogene for me. I have gone for Nunez to have the free role this time. For me he has not done enough at Portman Road so far. But I think he will get a bit more time on the ball in the Premier League and not have so many units kicking at his heels. Hopefully he will be able to keep his shots down and he has put many in the upper tiers of our home so far. And I have gone for Azon up top. I was hoping he could play the role he played later in the season where he seemed to win everything in the air and gave a much bigger centre half a tough time.
Well that is what my thinking would be with the current squad available and playing a kind of variety of ways KM played. My subs would be very much horses for courses and not the usual one we have become accustomed to. My main transfer targets would be at least three CM of the Taylor/Matusiwa role as we are ruined if one of those gets crocked. Well that's what I think anyway. |  | | |  |

All very hypothetical at this stage, as we’ll be signing a lot of players and I’d expect the side to look very different by the first game and more different again by the end of the transfer window. That would have been the case if KM was still here; it could be even more the case under the new boss.
