Out of everyone who's being mentioned so far - yes.

To be honest I have absolutely no idea about any of them but chat gpt picked him. His Champions League experience could be handy in 12 months time.

According to my unreliable source, OGS was seen in Copdock Tesco this morning.

If I trusted the source more I might have made a new thread, but I don't, so here it is.

He has no premiership experience. What credential’s does he really have for Ipswich to trust him with our Premier safety ? Until yesterday I’d never heard of him. We need experienced Premier manager in my opinion.

Cant see it tbh.

Why would you swap Champions League football for a relegation scrap?

I’m hoping it is him.

BUT the odds appear to have shifted down almost entirely based on that earlier thread on here and a few people putting on small bets as a result.

I haven’t seen any journos/anyone ITK say we are actually interested in him/any evidence at all for the odds.

Unless I’ve missed something?

The list of managers who:

a) have PL experience
b) are looking for work or willing to leave for Ipswich
c) are half decent

Is pretty small, no?

Probably doubling his wages helps. But I doubt he will be the one .

I’m more hoping we go down the foreign route and go outside the box. I’d be very happy with Knutsen, would prefer Hjulmand but feel he’s probably out of reach.

Realistically I think it would have been Anthony Barry without question if it wasn’t for the World Cup.

The ones with Premier League experience O’Neil, Dyche etc just really don’t excite me or many people on here by the looks of it.

Who does have the credentials to trust them with our Premier safety ?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The same reason many people would move to a new job: new experience, learning a new culture, working with expanded budgets, testing on a larger national stage, higher profile, promises of specific agency or elements of the job.

I am not saying he is or isn't imminent, I have no idea. But very hypothetically:

- he seems like someone who likes a project and to have broader control than just picking a team
- would realise that perhaps Bodo/Glimpt are doing as well as is possible (which is incredibly well) and to continue would be repeating and repeating the same
- he maybe wants to build a "smaller" team to something big rather than land in a huge job and all that entails (ie, Ajax or Celtic)
- he is bored of the mountains and lakes and pines for something altogether flatter
- he wants a bigger salary
- he enjoyed testing himself in the Champions League against giant clubs and wants to do it every week in the premier league
- He is a big fan of Ed Sheeran

There are countless reasons that go into a life-changing decision, not just "champions league or not".

I don’t know very much about him but read the coaches voice article on his tactics and success domestically based on min 60% possession. No matter how could he is we won’t be getting close to those levels stepping into the premier league.

Whoever comes will need to be pragmatic rather than an idealist and I kind of felt reading that article he was more an idealist.

As I said I know really nothing about him so it’s hard to do anything but sit on the fence.

Anthony Barry would be my top pick but obviously this bloody World Cup is creating a problem for this to work out as I think he’d be equally keen to come to us.

This is the type of appointment I'd like us to make. There are probably other managers of the same type I'd prefer, but they may not be possible.

Hope not. No experience outside scandi countries. A few wins in Europe is not like plying your trade week in week out in the Prem. My preference would be OGS. I’m not that impressed with any of the names mentioned to be honest.

Many of us including me said much the same in December 2021.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
