It's actually a good thing he's gone strong on it despite winning the game.
The new law (another one) gives all the power to the attacker. While we don't want all the jostling we've had in recent years, and defenders have got away with too much at times, you see tonight why simply giving penalties doesn't work and isn't fair.
It just means the attacker can do all the wrestling he wants, the worst that will happen is he'll give away a free kick. It's very little risk for massive reward. It might look like a foul by Konsa but it's not. |  |

It's another one where for me you have to wonder how the refs think and communicate to not get the decision correct from VAR.
I can 100% understand the ref on the pitch getting it wrong in the moment but the second you watched the body positioning and fact that Dan Ballard went lower before Konsa it was a judo throw.
VAR has that luxury. It is literally the only reason for it being worthwhile. Clearly not working in it's current capacity to be what it should. |  | | |

Totally agree, I thought that at the time. I thought Ballard was backing into Konsa to force him to go over the top of him to make it look like. The MOTD footage when slowed down and Williams explanation were very good. Easy to miss the grab Ballard also has on Konsa and bulls him downwards whilst rolling him over. To the naked eye it looks a pen but as soon as you watch it back you can see Ballard is manipulating that to happen.
Very clever from Ballard, but if VAR is going to look at it then for good sake actually look at what happened by all players. | | | |

I think it probably felt a good opportunity to enforce the new law, or is it a directive?
With it being Arsenal after their reputation last season as well, it was the perfect storm.
Oddly, I don't think it would have been given at the other end. A bit of home advantage in play I think. | |
