Academy central defender Tommy Smith won his third England U17 cap earlier today as his side lost 3-1 to Germany at the Algarve Tournament. Smith started and played 73 minutes of the final game before being replaced.

England ended the competition in second place behind the Germans but ahead of France and hosts Portugal.

Smith recently committed to playing for England, the country of his birth, ahead of New Zealand, where he lived between the ages of eight and 16.
