Sunderland Midfielder Linked With Town Loan
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 15:24

Town are reported to be taking Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback on a season-long loan. Over the weekend, boss Roy Keane revealed that the Blues were close to adding a midfield player to their squad.

Newcastle-born Colback, 19, joined the youth set-up at Sunderland at 11 and was given first team experience by Keane in pre-season last year during the Blues’ boss’s spell as manager at the Stadium of Light.

The central midfielder, 5ft 8in tall, is yet to make a competitive first team appearance for the Black Cats, but has won caps at U20 level with England.

we don't need another young midfielder, the likes of upson and lambe should be given a chance first

so real madrid don't need ronaldo either then under your theory, as an untested and lesser rated youth / reserve team player should be given the chance first?
Naive....

Upson and Lambe will be given a chance when the manager feels they're good enough. There's no point throwing in youth players purely because they've grown up at the club...

A 19 yr old who hasn't played a game? Nice one. Let's get rid of an international, who for my money was a very decent if not spectacular defensive midfielder, and get another youth player in. Is Keano the Academy coach or am I getting confused?

Oh dear. Yet again the Big Jim lovers seem to be slating RK before a) even knowing who the player is and b) not even sure if we will be signing him!

Come on people - get behind Roy. Many fans haven't given him chance. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Jim was given three years - can we not give Roy a few more months?!!

Mark, i reckon the £5m is in a matress, waiting for August 30th, so that if Gio hasn't swanned off to Spain, we can afford him to come back, even if its another loan!

who dont you just keep your mouth firmly shut Fabian Mayley about purchasing strikers, we've already got Jon stead, Connor Wickham, pablo counago and Walters and Martin can both play upfront and remember the young Lisbie is on loan and can come wenever RK klicks his fingers.
Where we really need strength is in the middle of the park, Garvan is clearly over the hill and coming towards the end of his career, Norris seems to be more interested in picking up his wages at the end of the month than playing for the club and Healy is just an irish nobody. Have you ever watched a football game before Fabian Mayley? you're the only person who would do a worse job as manager than roy keane!!
