Bolton Confirm Shittu's Blades Snub Thursday, 17th Sep 2009 12:27
Bolton manager Gary Megson has confirmed that central defender Danny Shittu has turned down the chance to join Sheffield United on loan. Town are also understood to have been chasing the former QPR and Watford centre-half.
Megson said: "I spoke to [Sheffield United assistant boss] Sam Ellis a few times and it was put to Danny that he could go there if he wanted for a month's football and could have played six games.
"I felt it would have been good for everybody, but Danny didn't want to, which is his prerogative, so he has not gone."
Reports earlier today claimed Shittu is keen to push for a first team place at Bolton, which would suggest that Town will also be unable to land the man mountain defender on loan.

"Go and play for six games" - that would not have been the kind of deal Keane was looking for anyway, and I hope he's still negotiating for Wood from Sheff Wed. Hopefully, they'll let him go after their derby with United on Friday.

RK move on - supporters get over it, he would have been probably injured in the first game

Why don't we try an do a swap deal with Wood and McCauley? Would suit both clubs as McCauley is no longer wanted here and Wood obviously want to leave Sheff Wed????

..another "nugent" situation I fear. These overpaid, lazy players want their cake and eat it , it seems. So ....He's happy to "try and force his way into their 1st team" = Im happy to sit on the bench and takes me money - ta !

Don't panic, Delaney can play left central, so can Pim (well almost) and we also have Tommy Smith so we can get a team out for Saturday.

Surely there must be a Div 1/2 player on the way up? Shouldn't bother with the budgies tho.
tailchafer added 17:54 - Sep 17
would like to see Delany left central tho I prefer Pim and still think our best L back is..David Wright

What is the story with D. Wright? Injured? Or is he just out of favour? One of most commited players along with Bruce

Shame he's unlikely to join. Location is everything here though. Sheffield would have been much better for him, so unlikely to come here.

Don't care ! If he wants to warm a prem bench then he's not for us.

Wouldn't matter if we got Shittu or not. Keane would give him one game and then not play him again, giving him no 'time to gel' with his team-mates and then put him out for loan again. That applies to any loanee we may (or may not) get. Did I mention he wouldn't have 'time to gel'?

As a newbie to this, I must say I am constantly amazed at some of these numpty's short sighted comments on here!! Roy Keane will get it right, he is still learning about the inept ability of some of Jimbo's duff purchases! For gods sake how long did we persevere with Jim? Keane has played at the highest level, managed by some of the worlds greatest managers ever(Fergie and Cloughie) don't you think some of this would of rubbed off on him??? Give him the time to sort things out, He'll come good. Keep the faith.

chruchmans..you seen delaney and martin play? town fans seem to have adopted an immediate hatrid of any former manager of late.. and you cant say in one sentance 'how long did we perservere with jim' and follow it in the next sentance with 'perservere longer with roy, he will get it right' also looking at pur best team, alot of them: wright, pim, d.wright, norris, stead etc were signed by jim?

Indeed I have seen those two play, again players need time to get used to playing together. Have you ever played the game?? I can only refer back to my Numpty comment!!
