Quinn Dismisses Exit Claim
Quinn Dismisses Exit Claim
Thursday, 17th Sep 2009 18:38

Midfielder Alan Quinn has dismissed the recent report which claimed that he was amongst the players Roy Keane had told he were unlikely to play for the club again. The story appeared on the day of the Peterborough Carling Cup tie, which the former Sheffield Wednesday and United man started.

Quinn said: “I know the boss would not go behind my back. I was in the starting line-up at Peterborough the day that story came out and it didn't add up.

“The manager saw me and said that he did not name names to the press and he would tell me face to face if he had a problem with me. And I know he would, having seen him do it to others.

“I want to play for this club, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I did enough against Forest to keep my place in the side for the league game at Doncaster on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, loanee Jack Colback says he would like to stay with the club beyond his current spell which is up at the turn of the year: "It's still early days, but if it goes well for me here and the gaffer wanted me to stay, then I'd be happy to spend the year here.

"We will have to wait and see how things work out over the next few months. I certainly want to play first team football and I'd rather stay here then go back to Sunderland and play in the reserves - if that is what the gaffer wants.

"Coming to Ipswich gives me a chance to play first team football and that is what I need at this stage of my career, that's what I need to progress as a player.

"I have played a few games now and feel that I am imposing myself a bit more on the team, but the results are the main thing and they have not gone as well as we would have liked. The signs are there though that things will change around very quickly."

Quinn has actually been decent this season and deserves to stay with the club.

Too bad! If anybody has to go from PR that must be him! Even though he plays better this season he is of no use!

I was well impressed with Quinners last performance and even more pleased to see the Leadbitter quinn partnership blossoming. Colback has shown what he is made of and will only get better. So we are starting to see partnerships and that includes rosenior/edawards. I also want to see now is a successful pablo/tamas partnership. Then a brucie (yes I am converted from a brucie moaner) partnership with that elusive new brick ....house!

I agree legoman with the need for a more consistent first 11, the signs of partnerships being forged all over the park can only mean one thing the stalled run that we have all had to endure is soon to be a thing of the past and I am convinced that come the end of the season, even Christmas we'll all have forgotten these troubled times. Keane knows what he's doing and we will reap the rewards long beyond this season and the next I'm sure...

I'm gonna be in that number when the town go marchin in!

Tractorboy what a great idea for a song for the whole stand to start singing! Oh when the town go marching up......I went to the forest match with my son and loads of friends on tues and my son said " the songs that the north stand (try to) sing are either to short, to boring ,to disgusting or to complicated". We need simple loud songs like your suggestion....PASS IT ON>>>I WILL!

Jack Colback, Impressive young lad but I see the Midfield being well populated come the Festive Period with players back for injury etc . . I hope we can hold on to him looks like a decent player.

Quinn (or Quinner as he's now known) is a decent player. No use wide on left where Jim always played him. Better in Central midfield or on the right. Great backup while Norris is injured. Should be a regular alongside Leadbitter until Norris is fit again

Disagree Muhren. Quinner should be regular if and only if deserved and norris to take his chance when and if it comes. Thats just the way it is in all forms of life!

Quinner's attitude & commitment has always been first class. Some times guilty of giving the ball away cheaply, but is certainly in good form at the mo. As for colback, very impressed with this young lad, energetic, skillfull, quick feet.. Hope we keep him.

Tractorboyupnorth & Legoman "when the town go marching UP" would be excellent to get the crowds singing.

Where we sit we have the same problem, people try to sing but because the chants are short it just fades away to near silence after a few seconds. We are then left with a bloke (sounds like Smithy from Gavin & Stacey - Pamalar) who shouts out stupid comments throughout the game!

Ive been posting for ages now but I have never been in such a genuine thread of posts before and brightblue, how do we get this song going. I am the sort of person with the guts to stand up and start it but it needs backup and I dont see that around me where I like to sit , which is on the penalty area line on either side of north stand end.

Legoman - you are right, I have stopped posting on here recently because of the impatient know it alls. Things are going in the right direction and I for one am looking forward to the soon to gel side that RK (and Triggs!) are creating. To RK - Ignore the muppets (which I'm sure you are), in YOU I believe.

Legoman - I'm not sure if posting on other forums would be worthwhile! Section 6, with the best intention, don't seem to be making the noise they hoped, but maybe continually singing "Oh when the Town go marching UP" might be the song to get many more to join in.
I truely believe that could make all the difference. The singing on Tuesday night was a hell of an improvement on recent times and I for one would love to go home horse from singing, dare I say like in the good ol' days!

Brightblue - you were right, the singing in the first half was a whole lot better. It takes a good performance, an early goal and a pillock of a referee to get the crowd going. The only trouble is, the "fans" these days are too fickle. It sounded like everyone was joining in with "Earnshaw's an alien", then he spoiled it by scoring and the place went like a morgue.

You try and get something going yourself and noone is interested and you end up feeling a right prat.

Section 6 was a good idea with excellent intentions but I can't hear them from where I sit.

I agree that the singing has become repetitive.
Same ol songs, fading out within a matter of seconds.
C'mon north stand (Bobby Robson Stand) get P/R rocking !

One problem at the moment is that with so many new players and a changing line-up the songs/chants haven't yet had time to develop, which is why we've only got the same old few songs. Another is that the team hasn't been great, to be fair. It's much easier when there's something on the pitch that gets everyone going.

The whole 2-tier North thing has been discussed on here before, and certainly doesn't help, but I agree with the comments above, there are a lot of jaded people at the moment who just don't want to join in. Hopefully as the team settles down and improves(!) the atmosphere will also improve.

One thing they could do to improve it immediately though is to stop playing the rubbish music after we score. You get one second of cheer, then it's all killed stone dead, and everyone has to wait till it's finished and all the announcements before the crowd can sing. When Forest scored the other night they went mental in total silence, singing away, we could hear every word in the north-why can't we have that when we score? It would certainly make more impression on away fans than lame jingles. Sorry rant over.

La Paz has made a good point. Get rid of the deafening music at the start as well. get the fans singing before the match and they may carry it forward into the match.

Another thing that would help is to move the away fans next to the North Stand
