Campbell Wants Championship Loan Monday, 12th Oct 2009 09:30
Sol Campbell is keen on a loan move to a Championship club before joining a Premier League side in January, according to a tabloid report this morning. Campbell recently left Notts County weeks into a five-year deal, but is still officially contracted to the League Two club.
This would allow him to move out on loan to a Football League side with Town manager Roy Keane having expressed in his interest in the former England man last month.
However, West Brom are considered favourites for the ex-Arsenal and Tottenham defender’s signature with the 35-year-old reported to have already held talks with the Baggies.
Meanwhile, another tabloid report claims Town midfielder Owen Garvan has told friends that manager Roy Keane isn’t speaking to him and that he expects to leave the club.
Garvan, who is currently away skippering the Republic of Ireland U21s, hasn’t played for the first team since August and last month turned down a loan spell at Colchester, although Keane recently said he could still come back into his thoughts.

Ok , lets look at Keane ...He obviously is NOT a motivational Manager , if you arrive in the car park one minute late you are out When fergie managed like that he had respect , plus a squad of about 20 internationals .Garvan and Wright are certainly worth a place on the bench . we have played 13 games won none and drawn and gone thru against the mighty Shrewsbury ( and conceded three) .Supple has quit ,Healy(Joke player) Who would want to play for Keane ? Unfortunately he is not going anywhere soon but if by Xmas we are still bottom with no wins he can pack his bags and go count his money . Campbell - Possibly a good move - lets get Rhodes back on loan as well!!!

The story about Garvan appeared in the Mirror if you trust a crap rag like that I have some property to sell you in Florida. The article also called him a keeper well he's not doing a good job of pushing RW. Then it had my favoutrite rag saying...an Ipswich insider revealed. That means 'I just made it up in my head'. Sol Campbell would do a good job for us, he is the type of player we want Pim and Smith to learn from, not the useless Bruce. As for Garvan being in the side, I really like him but he needs to do more to show his true potential. I can't believe for a minute RK would not want to be playing him they are both Irishmen...But Garvan needs to get down and knuckle under and show RK he can do it...something he hasn't done this season.

If all Campbell is after is a place to train until January, then there is no point. If it was til the end of the season then it wouold be a different matter. As for the Garvan saga, taliking to a friend of a friend of a friend what a ridiculous story. And what does "not speaking to him mean", that he has sent him to Coventry or that he only deals face to face with first team players. I remember Burly and Tarricco were loike this when Burley first arrived. Tarriccco however, buckled down, worked hard, kept his nose clean and became one of the best defeners in the league at that time. Garvan ought to take note.

Agree with Surco72.We wouldn't be bottom of league if RK was doing ok.Too many negatives and wrong decisions, getting rid of Jordan Rhodes being main one,and freezing out players and saying one or two wont play for him again;not good for morale. We started at beginning of season with inexperienced Chairman,Chief Exec and young manager with little experience in present job.Lets hope they all learn from their mistakes as association football is an unforgiving sport and past reputations in other sphere's mean nothing.Understand it was Clegg who told Garvans agent he could go but please dont make yet another hasty decision as with Rhodes,Delaney Healy et al

The Mirror is just stirring it up. They're desperate to get at Keano. If we don't get 3 points or more from the next 2 home games, he's history. Don't necessarilly think that this is the right thing to do & would like to see him given more time, but what ever the press or Garvan or anyone says - he's got 2 games to prove himself I reckon.

Here's a good one - and this is true - I saw Kieron Dyer in Ipswich yesterday. You don't think... .... no, surely not!!!!!
newburyblue added 15:01 - Oct 12
Thats a awesome thought... however Dyer was born in Ipswich and stayed there until he left us for Newcastle aged 21... therefore i'd be very surprised if he doesn't still have family and friends in Ipswich so probably best not to get too excited!

Seeing as Kieron Dyer comes from Ipswich and his family still live there, there is as good chance people will see him about!! Do you think if we had a low profile Manager, that all this bullsh!t gutter drivel sorry excuse for journalism, would be causing such unrest at our club? These vultures have got their teeth into our manager and this is having a detrimental effect on the club and fans. We have to get behind the team, ignore the bullsh!t and start working together as fans. If we can turn things around these tabloid scumbags will move on and find a new target!! Sorry for the rant, but I am so frustrated at the way the media is twisting the knife into ITFC. Looking forward to Saturday. Lets all get behing Roy and the boys!

I did know that about KD, but couldn't resist chucking it in with all of the other tales of mystery and imagination. We're a soft target for any lazy journalists at present and the only way to stop that is to start winning. Let's hope we start on Saturday...

sol could be good for us his experience can be passed onto the likes of tommy smith and he could step in for sol in january, and as for garvan its not like roy didnt give him a chance and so what if roy is talking more to his first team rather than wasting time trying to develop garvan. imo garvan needs to grow up and try harder to be noticed

Could the row between RK & OG have anything to do with Cork v. Dublin Psychic?
jas0999 added 17:17 - Oct 12
I always used to be a fan of Garvan - but his performances this season were very poor. RK was RIGHT to drop him. Not worth commenting on the 'Roy's not talking to me' quote as it's from a tabloid. Campbell would be an excellent signing. Even if it is in the short term. Pim and Smith are not good enough. Bruce gives 100% but we have conceeded goals with him at the back. McAuley is not good enough.

Hate to say this, but I believe that this is it. If there were other players in the wings waiting to come in then they would be here by now. The boys will have to dig themselves out!!! It is going to be one long hard frustrating season!!!

Equally, Cambell could play blinding football to atract a better class of prem team. That said I would not want us to sign an old player like him.

cant believe the press but he would just be the biggest crap signing in a list of crap

Owen Garvin needs to grow up. Him & RK had a massive row on the training field & havn't seen eye 2 eye since. OG hates RK & had thrown his toys out of the pram, there was loads of reports of him being unsetled last season but jim pussy footed around him. True the boy can pass, but no heart, desire & is a stroppy little girl. I'm sick of the bloody tabloids desparation for RK to fail. As for Sol, would be nice ! But never gonna happen & never was!.
