Campbell Wants Championship Loan Monday, 12th Oct 2009 09:30
Sol Campbell is keen on a loan move to a Championship club before joining a Premier League side in January, according to a tabloid report this morning. Campbell recently left Notts County weeks into a five-year deal, but is still officially contracted to the League Two club.
This would allow him to move out on loan to a Football League side with Town manager Roy Keane having expressed in his interest in the former England man last month.
However, West Brom are considered favourites for the ex-Arsenal and Tottenham defender’s signature with the 35-year-old reported to have already held talks with the Baggies.
Meanwhile, another tabloid report claims Town midfielder Owen Garvan has told friends that manager Roy Keane isn’t speaking to him and that he expects to leave the club.
Garvan, who is currently away skippering the Republic of Ireland U21s, hasn’t played for the first team since August and last month turned down a loan spell at Colchester, although Keane recently said he could still come back into his thoughts.

We don't need Campbell on a short -term loan ! Keane has messed up the team enough already . I believe Garvan has great potential as has been seen in the past . Players react to encouragement which builds confidence etc . Keane is a destroyer of both ! ITFC have a squad of players who could and would do well with the right management ! NOT Keane !

The only toys I've seen thrown out of prams at Town this season have been from Roy Keane (for the umpteenth time in his life). As many (educated) Town fans were saying before the season, creative people (brains....ie players who pass alot) do not react to Sergeant Major types. They need cajoling, encouragement. Intelligence = emotional intelligence = sensitivity etc. This is what 'man management' means. Each man gets managed differently, according to character. Keane doesn't seem to have the capacity to understand 'confidence types'. Fear is no way to run a team in any walk of life, unless the team all have low-IQs. There's been one upside to our awful start: It's been so embarrassing having the "In Keane we trust" fanboys constantly shouting on here, so thank god that's dying out. Many want an effective manager, not 'someone famous', in charge. We have our opinions, we've studied this club in depth for years. Ipswich fans know their sh**, as 5Live once said (Hence we spent several years saying 'we need a defender'...yet no recent manager does the obvious. We're bottom). He's getting rid of our brightest new stars, acting like a spoilt baby (so no respect from the staff).....and of course failed to get a defender during the several months he's been here. So people with working brains are gonna be miffed at their doubts coming true? I love all our extra coverage on TV, but winning is more important than a famous manager who's achieved so little. The chav fans will continue to suppress debate on here (ironic considering the meaning of 'forum')...These people actually believe genuine fans want our club to do badly, slag off Keane, etc. so attack their views. How stupid can you get? Many warned of the doom, they were right (unfortunately)....but gawd it's hard to get a measured educated opinion through the 'In Keane We Trust' brigade. Do you blindly trust anyone in life? Or is it dependent on being starstruck? If british Llberals need a few more recruits to continue their suppression of free speech, there's a few on here who are ready to join up. Let the people who can spell correctly speak too, eh?....I want to see intelligent comments, not blind assumptions such as "Stroppy little girl" about Garvan....especially when defending a character like the ultimate 'stroppy little girl' Roy Keane (proven!). The irony is toooo much. Garvan is captain of the Irish U-21s. Rhodes was prolific at all levels, still is. It's pretty basic in the end. Anyone who doesn't worry, is going to look a 'bit silly' in public....

losing faith in keane, heard an awful alot bout his managment skills from players who have played for him, i.e dwight yorke and greg halford now this about garvan, it doesnt look positive for keane, i think the best thing to happen is keane to leave i no its a bit drastic, hes not here for the long run its roy keane for god sake fergie isnt going to last forever, i totally agree with surco72 100%

Owen Garvan is one of the reasons RK should be sacked. He is one of our best players regardless of pace! Jordan Rhodes is now being linked wiht a million plus move to the premiership! Bottom of the league, more than 3 points from safety. Want anymore reasons why he should leave. p.s Campbelll would be a wicked signing!

Apparently even the wealthy/irresistible/amazing West Brom are no longer interested in signing Sol ..... wages too much for them. So no chance for us! And I don't believe that a 35 year-old prima donna is the answer for us anyway. De Vos left us at 34, and many fans were slagging him off for being too old/slow/crap at the time. I think that either Keano needs to decide on a settled back 4 with the players we have, or if he does get anyone in, then its someone younger and more stable than Sol! KEANO!

Keiron still lives in ipswich which is why you probably saw him, garvan has had enough opportunities and rather than look at new players eg sol why dont we stop looking at bringing in new faces and concentrate motivating the ones we have?? you dont see wenger/ferguson constantly saying we need one or two new ones every week so why does rk? 3M to sack him so thats not gonna happen in a hurry xmas at the earliest... bet the budgies are having a right laugh at our current plight.

If he doesn't get at least 1 win from the next 2 home games he's gone. No doubt about it. Sol's a disruptive, mercenary primadona - last thing our dressing room needs at the moment. It's a shame RK had to put himself in a corner by leaving Wrighty & Garvan completely out of the squad. Jordan scored loads at this level last year so he can't have been an unknown quantity. £850k for him a fair business decision. At least we haven't been mugged.

tractordamage, wot a long post! it took me till now to finish it, and i am very well educated thank you! your opinion is noted, and like most people on here it is your opinion and you have aright to it. however, i think you will find that there isnt blind faith in Keane. I think, IMO,that is, most of the 2 in keane we trust brigade2 as you call them , prefer to support their teams manager, whilst he is incumbent. like a lot of keane detractors, and by the way i am not his biggest fan,you feel it is best that he is gone, well then please tell me and all of the rest of us, who or what is the answer, who for instance is the ideal replacement? PS if you say Curbishley i will dismiss you as an idiot! this is a forum, but before you or anyone else starts throwing names in willy nilly, think about it carefully, and only suggest real candidates, not people you would LIKE to see as manger. If this is rather tricky, and IMO It is, thats the problem ME AND SC have got!!!!

If Keano doesn't get a home win in the next 2 games, we should be thinking replacement. We won't have to because Evans will have stepped in. No doubt he is having chats & plotting through the international break. No wins in the next 2 & I estimate we will be 7-9 points off safety with around 3/4 of the season left. That's a proper crisis. I hope we win both & start climbing the table nicely putting all this behind us. It's Keanos to lose at the moment so got to stay behind him.

Garvan had huge potential but it has all gone to waste however I do feel sorry for the lad because his illness really hit him and put him back... his main problem is how often he gives the ball away and I think that is mainly down to confidence because he has an eye for a good pass but never can pull it off. He also needs to be tougher and he will be a good player. All in all he still has a lot to work on but nothing impossible he isn't a lost cause yet!

Get him in, even if it be for a few months. if he can help get us on a run of winning games surely that will lift the players! COYB

Crikey! It was a looooong post injuredanimal. Here's another one probably. Just recovered from swine flu....so the ability to move again has obviously affected the fingers. An appropriate manager?? Well Curbishley hasn't crossed my mind for several years! Jeez. Like most, I probably hadn't thought much about it as we weren't expecting this cr*p. But I have been pointing out the psychology of a seargent major type since the start. I wanted us to be a club that hires a successful Roy Keane as manager, but I cannot help thinking life is not so simple. Anyway...I remember wanting Owen Coyle for a few months last year....he's the sort of guy we'd usually go for, with success. But as soon as Keane arrived, you switch to thinking....yes! nice one! Let's act like a big club. Now it's turned out badly, it's best to analyse why. It's a bit assumptive to assume emotional analysis on a forum equates to not cheering on the team on matchday. We should all scream our support for the players. No confidence = no win. But once the fat lady (in blue) sings...my disappointment and 30-year knowledge of our club is going to be aired on here. We could even say...an angry disappointed Town fan has deeper affection for the club than a robotic unemotional fan who isn't upset. It's ironic that the truth is (probably) the opposite to what the 'In Keane We Trust' brigade make out.....
