Holland: Town Can Still Get Promoted
Holland: Town Can Still Get Promoted
Friday, 16th Oct 2009 13:13

Former Town skipper Matt Holland says the Blues can still get promoted this season, despite failing to win any of their first 11 matches and currently sitting bottom of the Championship. Holland, who is currently without a club after leaving Charlton at the end of last season, was writing in his new blog for the Football League website.

The 35-year-old former Ireland international feels Roy Keane’s side can emulate the Town team from his time at Portman Road: “It's a false position they find themselves in and in a month's time after three home games and one on their travels I expect to see a lot more points on the board.

"Can Ipswich still get promoted? It may sound crazy but I think they can. In my first season at Portman Road we were in the bottom three after 14 matches but then embarked on a spectacular run which saw us lose just one game in the next 22!

“A fifth place play-off finish was ours and I can see that happening for the Blues this season too if they get things sorted.”

Read Holland’s blog in full on the Football League website where Andy Ritchie writes on League One and Peter Jackson on League Two.

I can't beleive Yallop and FriskinPriskin. Obviously these 2 either didn't go to many matches or they just don't have a clue about football. Watch the season reviews for 98/99, 99/00 and 2000/01, and watch how many important things Holland pulled out the bag for us (goal saving challenges, taking midfields by the scruff of the neck, and bursting into the box to score important goals. On top of all that, he was 110% committed to this club and not even the lure of a big money move to Villa could initially prize him away). Some supporters of this club just seem to watch a different sport to what the rest of us do. Pity that these 2 have actually contributed absolutely nothing to ITFC's successes in the past, maybe they could have showed us all how its done...

And FriskinPriskin also writes about how Frank Lampard is 'crap'. That's right, the highest scoring midfielder in English football for years is called 'crap' by this joker. Some people's expectations/ assessments of what makes a great player really really worries me.

Radiogaga - I'm entitled to my opinion the same as you.

And that is Holland was ok but not a legend in my eyes. Same as Magilton, Venus etc..
