Lisbie Wants Keane Talks
Lisbie Wants Keane Talks
Saturday, 17th Oct 2009 09:20

Striker Kevin Lisbie says he wants to speak with Roy Keane about his future after the Town manager revealed that he will be recalling the on-loan striker from his spell at Colchester United in January. Lisbie, who celebrates his 31st birthday today, says he knew nothing of his season-long loan being cut short until Keane made the comments to the media.

The former Charlton man recently said he would not be returning to Town, but Keane wants him back at Portman Road having received interest from other clubs regarding permanent deals for the ex-Jamaica international.

Lisbie says he wants to talk to Keane about the situation: “I see that he has said that there are a few clubs interested in me, but the problem is that I'd like him to speak to me first.

“I'd like him to call me. Roy has not spoken to me yet, so I knew nothing about this recalling me. It's a horrible way to find out.

“I think he should have spoken to me first. To be honest, I feel like a piece of meat.”

Lisbie is enjoying his second spell with the U’s and wants to remain with the League One side: ”I want to see the season through at Colchester. That situation hasn't changed.

“I want to speak to the manager here [Aidy Boothroyd]. I feel settled at Colchester, and I won't go somewhere I don't want to go.”

Lisbie, who cost Town £750,000 when he moved from Colchester in the summer of 2008, is contracted to the Blues until 2011.

Although I don't rate Lisbie as a player I think he makes a valid point here. Poor form Mr. Keane.

Did he not tell him? Or is he just not happy about the recall and stirring things up?

Dolly,

He is just showing Lisbie who the manager of the football club is and that he remains an Ipswich player after Lisbie announced to the media that he wouldn't be returning to Ipswich. I doubt Lisbie spoke to Keane before announcing this.

Tbh I don't care where he goes as long as it is Portman Rd, very poor bit of business

A wasted £600,000 spent by Magilton as the player gave us nothing in effort.
Why should we do him any favours he certainly didn't do us any. Layzbee was about right for him - dreadful purchase and is now at his level.

The problem is, most League 1 clubs - Colchester included - won't match Lisbie's Town wage. Is he so settled at Colchester that he'll take a pay cut to sign a permanent deal there? If another club offers us a fee for Lisbie, he can go or else pick up his wage at Town & waste away in the reserves.

if he wants to stay at Colchester, get them to pay a fee for him. Simple really. I have no sympathy for Lisbie.

Lisbie is settlet at Colyoo, he has found his level.

He has to remember it was him who spoke to the press first, and he showed disrespect to RK, THE CLUB AND YES US THE FANS.

It seems that if you yank RK's chain unlike his dogs, who only bark, MR Keane also bites!!!

I fail to see why, when he is sticking up for the club we all love, he gets criticised for putting a player back into line.

The only reason Lisbie would come back to Town, is we can sell him and regain some of that ridiculous outlay JM paid out for a decidedly average player, a player at that who openly says he doesnt want to play for us again, and who in my opinion did not ever really want to play for us,given his past performances.

rant over!!!!!!

What the hell is Lisbie complaining about? He doesn't want to play for Ipswich anymore, RK doesn't want him at the club, so the sooner he's off our books the better for all concerned - he should've been delighted to hear this news!

As for RK consulting Lisbie first about his transfer plans, it's not like he's spent 5+ years at the club (or will have to uproot his family from the area) - he's a journeyman footballer who had one poor season with us, so RK and club owe him nothing...

Lisbie is an idiot. Our club is a total shambles & a laughing stock. A fringe player like Lisbie getting coverage or club comment? Are you sure! Please can we win the next 2 games well & put this behind us - or, if we lose them put an end to this circus quickly.

Injuredanimal- good rant - here's another one.

I get a really bored reading experts on here, week in week out, bleating on about how badly RK treats our ‘stars'. It's clear to me that RK inherited a dressing room in disarray, and he's now, one way or the other, got to sort out/sell several expensive, unfit, uncommitted, spoilt, B List prima donna's.

RK says it over and over again — lateness, fitness, earning a team place, commitment — obviously some of our players and their agents want everything their own way and collect their pay. Some even stop playing at 90 minutes! Others get their heads down, get on with it week in week out, and play for the badge of honour — ITFC.

The stuff on today (and every other bloomin' day) regarding Garvan and Lisbie etc etc etc is simply RK dealing with these managerial ‘problems'.

And another thing……..worriers and whiners, stop undermining your team with constant negativity and get down to Portman Road and support your team fer f*cksake.

Thanks — I feel much better now.

I really hope Lisbie is unhappy. A player who has showed no desire, no passion, no commitment deserves everything he gets.

Lisbie, you are a piece of meat, but a very poor quality piece, which is why RK and 20,000 Town fans won't rid of you.

You hopeless waste of space

God you Ipswich fans are so bitter! Keane is taking you down to League One which I'm happy about! It's just a shame Colchester will be in the Championship! Lisbie is class and if you bother treated him right, he would have played with passion and commitment for you and you wouldn't be in so much trouble! Ipswich is a League one team and the quicker you get there, the better! I really hope Lisbie plays against Ipswich one day and bangs in some goals to rub salt in the wounds!

You call Lisbie a waste of space...don't you mean RK is a waste of space!! Look where he's taken your team!! BOTTOM OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!! I suggest before you start slating Lisbie, you look closer to home!

Sanj25: "God you Ipswich fans are so bitter".
.....He then proceeds to make the effort to sign up, shows a pathetically weak temperament and a ridiculous over-the-top bitterness toward a situation he knows only one side of.....you have to giggle at the irony.
The whole post is childish weak-pride bitterness.
I LOVE braindead weak-minded people embarrassing themselves like this. It's a better sport to watch than Town at the moment.....

Colchester thought he was over priced, just like I did when THEY sold him to us.
why has THEIR valuation changed?

I've said it before, Lisbie was just one of those signings that didn't work out (for anybody) and everyone would be much happier, Lisbie included, if he moved on. He's currently on loan at Colchester and by all reports doing quite well there, but its only a loan and he would have to come back at the end of the season, no good for him, no good for Town. Better to get a permanent deal sorted out sooner rather than later. If Colchester want him that much, they can match the other offers that are being made and I am sure he will go back there.

So glad sanj25 made his rediculous comments. The response to him has given me the best laugh on this site for a while! Well done sanj25 keep your idiotic nonsense coming so we can all have a good laugh! Glad that (apart from the afore-mentioned who know who) that there seems to be a unity on this one amongst town fans!
