Healy Set for Falkirk
Healy Set for Falkirk
Monday, 11th Jan 2010 16:24

Town midfielder Colin Healy is understood to be a loan target of SPL side Falkirk. Late last week, manager Roy Keane revealed that the Irishman had been the subject of a number of enquiries.

Healy, who joined the Blues from Cork City in the summer, was linked with a move to Hartlepool before Christmas but the League One side have since ruled out signing any more players during the transfer window.

The former Celtic man has failed to win a regular place with Town, making only five appearances since his move from the League of Ireland.

Pointless signing just like George Ocallaghan. Only a few can step up from irish football to english (kevin Doyle)
Lets hope this keeper Murphy is different.

I am willing to bet that he won't even be a regular in the Falkirk side

We paid 100k for him I think, which is worth a gamble.

Whilst hes not shone, hes not been a complete disgrace in his few appearances. Hes certainly contributed more than Ben Thatcher and probably cost us less.

As for O'Callaghan, he turned in some decent performances, only cost £70k and at the time, with no money, was also a decent gamble.

Lets get some perspective on it.

It was and always is worth a gamble at that money.
If he had come-of (and he still might!) it would be classed as a stroke of genius....

At that money it was a no-brainer.

def 100k, falkirk is a bad idea though i thought itfc had learnt their lesson with them. didn't suple go there and not even play

Arguably worth a punt at £100k, but it hasn't really worked out and he should move on now for the benefit of his career.

Probably too far off the pace now to mount a serious charge for the play offs and the squad should have enough to see us comfortably clear of relegation, so not expecting too much activity in this transfer window. Expecting much better from RK this summer...

As most on here said at time, was worth a gamble at £50K, but the gamble didn't pay off. So easy in hignsight to slate Keano. It was a risk, it didn't work and now common sense has prevailed and we move him on.

Good decison keane, i would much rather see him playing in a league 1 or 2 side soo i could keep an eye on him to see if hes on good form, hes nothing special.

a couple of years ago, during joe royles days, this would have been our big money signing at 100k, how much has changed since then!

now we can afford to waste/gamble like in this situation, ok it didnt work out, but it didnt break the bank. onwards and upwards, good luck to Colin in the future!

it still really suprises me how much distain people seem to have for healy. whilst he hasn't set the world alight by any means, as another has mentioned, he certainly hasn't played a real shocker or directly cost us points (which i can remember). it was a gamble, which could have paid off. it still might. he was well respected before his injuries and played for his country, which counts for something. i find it pretty funny that people can be so negative about a player they have barely seen play.

He'll probably do well at Falkirk... His signing does seem to have been a charitable giving to Cork and a leg up for a mate... By all accounts he's been playing well in the reserves. However, he was peanuts and may have come off... The the signings of Priskin & Martin - @ £3.5m the pair plus wages - was an absolute joke.

and that's another thing! how can it be a charitable donation to cork when hartlepool were offering the same amount! if keane cared that much he would have doubled their bid!
i agree about martin though. priskin has at least shown glimpses of something. i honestly still don't think i've ever seen martin make a tackle!

chrisswailes, are you Healys mum?
0

chrisswailes added 22:24 - Jan 11
hopefully not. don't get me wrong, i've got nothing particuarly great to say about his performances for ipswich, it just frustrates me a little how narrow minded some people are! in the wider context of ipswich town players not pulling their weight, colin healy is nowhere near the biggest villain!

Healy is my cousin and he rang me last night and said; "everyone hates me".

I said; "don't be silly, you haven't met everyone yet"

Some good points made - this was a gamble, and a cheap one at that, that could have gone eithr way. If he turned out to be the best player we've ever seen we wouldn't be slating Keane's decision making. Agreed though re Priskin & Martin. I do still think Priskin could come good, but thats down to him. & Martin is just a fairy.
