Keane: It'll Take Time Friday, 19th Mar 2010 16:18
Boss Roy Keane says it’ll take him a bit longer to put together the "core" of the squad he wants at Town. The Blues boss again looks likely to make significant moves into the transfer market in the summer.
Keane said: “I’ve been here seven or eight months but sometimes I have to understand that it probably takes a bit longer to get the core of players I want at the football club. But as we all know, unfortunately you don’t get that time.
“I’ve signed a two-year contract, but I’ve said before it probably takes three or four years to get the club running that way you want it to be.
“But unfortunately you don’t always get that, however, you have to understand that, that’s the name of the game. You’ve got to be quick, learn from your mistakes, learn about the players you bring into your football club, not just as players but their characters, what kind of people they are.”
Yesterday, Keane said he could make one immediate move into the transfer market with a loan addition to his squad a possibility, while Brentford have made an enquiry regarding a loan deal for Pim Balkestein ahead of a permanent deal in the summer.

I love how simple some people think managing is on here! Not being funny but how many players did we have at the club before RK that had true premiership experience. If anyone can work it out, I'd like to know, although off the top my head I cant really think of anyone other than Richard Wright, who after Town only had it in fits and starts. Other than that a large majority of players were on too much money and above their station. Believe you me I think RK has made stupid mistakes (changing team too much, changing a winning side, poor substitutions etc.) But having said that, I think he has tried to bring in players that have a little more experience or promise. Players that seem a little hungrier. We have some of the squad in place (Norris, Leadbitter, much improved Delaney and Macauley). My personal opinion, and it is just an opinion, is overall it hasn't been the season I hoped for. But thankfully im a patient fan and I do not believe in changing the record straight away just because you don't like the sound of it.

football is played in cycles of 1 football season roy keane will need to get us above where we finished last year with more points to prove he is taking the team forward any less and he is taking the team backwards and should be sacked so we can hire someone who will improve the club .. all the keanites on here run down magiltons team and management but the proof is in the pudding will keane better last years finish with more cash and resources at his disposal ? roys followers reckon jims team was hopeless and we had no chance last year ok roy beat last years placing or get lost

This tired old line of needing time, re-molding the team, things take time, is really starting to wear a bit thin...... Look at Notts Forest, they brought 10/11 new players in the summer, how come their players haven't needed a whole season to "settle in", I think it's more down to man-mangement rather than not having quality players. Is noticeable to me that Clegg/Evans haven't recently backed Keane, he wasn't given any more money for permanent signings in the transfer window either. Love him or hate him, I think its only a matter of time before Keanes time is up.

while i not wanna join the moaners, will those who criticise those who do have a moan wake up @ smell the coffee. yes, the players must take their share of the blame 4 such a poor season, but it must b obvious 2 every1 that keane clearly hasnt got a clue abt team selection, tactics, or substitutions. until he goesx, much as i hate 2 say it, we're going nowhere fast.

ChambersM - What an absolute clown you are !! - "you have had long enough" Do you suggest that we sack every manager that doesn't deliver in 1 season ? - Go and support Norwich, we don't need your "support" here.

havinit69 - Not a good example to use. Norwich City sacked their manager - where would they have been if they kept faith with Gunn? Secondly I'm fed up with people saying how long Robson and Ferguson have been given to turn things around. Both were gifted managers, an exception to the rule. Generally most managers who perform as badly as Keane in their first season never go on to get it right. We could beat Barnsley 7-0 today and I still know Keane is not for Ipswich Town - Keane Out!

jas0999 - all you do is moan moan moan moan moan about people giving their opinion about what has frankly been a shambolic season. Has it dawned on you that RK may have inherited a pretty decent squad from the previous manager but seriously underperformed because he is not good enough. Nope - I doubt it, as you just sit at home applauding his sub-standard season and blindly supporting Roy even though he has failed. Some of us want what is best for the club in the long term, before its too late.

PSGBlue, your comment holds no grounds! - Brian Gunn took Norwich down and then lost his first match at home to Colchester 7-1!! - Answer me this, if they'd have lost 2-1 would they have sacked Gunn? - Personally I dont think so! But anyway, Keane hasn't taken us down and won't be! Secondly, yes, SBR and SAF were both gifted managers, but ONLY because they were given time!!!! - I am not sure just how much some of our fans know about football. Our club needs stability, not chopping and changing! Get behind the manager. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the club doesn't need your negativity, real supporters get behind the club regardless.

havinit69,[ and others who have said same ] you say the club can do without the negative supporters.....really ? do you honestly think that all the supporters on terraces are happy ? if all those that are not in agreement with your view were excluded from the terraces do you really believe it would make no difference ?
