Keane to Again Look at Loan Market
Keane to Again Look at Loan Market
Tuesday, 8th Jun 2010 09:33

Boss Roy Keane says the Blues will again utilise the loan system next season, although the main focus will be on making permanent signings. Last season, Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback was amongst the club’s top performers and was one of a number of loanees to come in over the course of the season.

Keane told the club site: "Some managers I have spoken to are not great lovers of the loan system and question whether players are 100 per cent committed when they come in.

"That's not been my experience at all at Ipswich. The loan players that came in last season all gave us a lift.

"We can't depend on loan players next year, though. You never know when they will be called back. I was dreading a call about Asmir Begovic and it came. "We will need one or two loan players no doubt, but our focus will be on permanent additions."

The Blues boss would love Colback to return for a second season, however, the 20-year-old is expected to be seen as part of Steve Bruce’s first team squad at the Stadium of Light and is unlikely to be loaned out again.

Town have already been linked with a loan move for Tottenham left winger Andros Townsend, however, the England U19 international appears to be viewed as an alternative if the Blues fail to land more senior targets such as Peterborough’s George Boyd or Charlton’s Nicky Bailey on a permanent basis.

Maybe someone decent from one of the newly-promoted teams who may fall out of favour with new signings...

How exactly does TWTD know that Keane's targets are Boyd, Bailey, etc? Or is it a secret?

tresor kandol from leeds is available he might be worth a go up front with wickham, the boy could learn a lot from him and leeds are letting him go on the free, i would be gutted if we missed out on him.

Why would we want a Leeds reject? Jees.
I'd love to see Andros Townsend come in.

I would love to see Colback return! I think the loan market can be used effectively-Birmigham and Stoke proved this when they were promoted a few seasons ago so I have no problem as long as any signings improve the team. Be nice to see some Man Utd youngsters come in, especially one of their strikers-Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf to name a few....

Man U stricker Macheda would be a good loan signing for us. As would welbeck.

But is Keanes relationship with Sir Alex any good ?

Monkey_Blue added 10:41 - Jun 8
He has loaned man u players in the past and also signed them, not just ex manu but directly from united Lee Martin of course although united had no choice as he was out of contract but I very much doubt Macheda would be loaned to a championship side even if he would agree to it, which is less likely

Liam Miller.
Jonny Evans. Loan.
Danny Simpson. Loan.
Kieran Richardson.
Phil Bardsley.

becasue his only a leeds reject as fallen out with staff what i have heard, he was on loan to charlton the year they got relegated to league 1 and scored like 8 goals in 12 games. thats in the championship, i couldnt name any of our strikers that could do that especially for a team that was struggling. i think his worth a go as his free.

If Keane can utilise this well. If he can find gems like Tom Cleverly (he got player of the year and weighed in with 11 goals from midfield)or Henri Lansbury. I can see this having a dramatic impact on our season

I know most Championship clubs loan players, but that's not the way to build a settled side IMO. Lets get some good value players on our books and train them the Ipswich way!!

Kandol would be the 20 goal a season man we desperatly need. He's such a prolific scorer and has a fantastic reputation throughout the whole world of football.

GET A GRIP.

Tresor Kandol! What a signing that man would be. I can already hear the song

"Tresor Kandol, Ipswich's number 9"

Roys record in the loan market has actually been very good. Begovic and Colback were both outstanding. Although Healy didn't really work out Murphy scored some crucial goals. Rosenior was by no means a flop - in fact I actually rated him - although towards the end was less effective.

yeah i rated rosenior aswell if he was given a goood run in the team he could have been alot more effective.

Colback was good ,Begovic ok ,Murphy did no better than what we had ,Rosenoir was no better than what we had ,Healy and John offered very little . If that is considered very good by some people ,it would be interesting to hear what they would say if we had got Dos Santos,or Simpson from from Arsenal,Cleverly 11 goals,Lansbury ,Campbell at Blackpool they would be rated as world class !!
