Reports this evening claim that the hold-up in the Finidi George deal is Town's failure to provide the Spanish club with a fax proving that Town have the funds necessary to pay the £3.7 million fee.

The Spaniards claim they were supposed to receive the financial assurance yesterday, but have been sent nothing.

There is also thought to be some discussion between Finidi and his former club over unpaid signing-on fees.

Finidi's naming in the Mallorca squad for their Champions' League game with Hadjuk Split is a cause for concern for Town fans. Should he play some part he will be ineligible to play for Town in the UEFA Cup if the deal does go through.
