Tuanzebe: Memorable Two Years, Thank You
Friday, 27th Jun 2025 17:20

Exiting Town defender Axel Tuanzebe has thanked staff and fans for a memorable two years at the club after signing for Premier League new boys Burnley yesterday.

The 27-year-old DR Congo international penned a one-year deal with the Clarets having turned down a lucrative new contract at Portman Road.

Writing on Instagram, the former Manchester United man said: “Memorable two years. Thank you to all the staff and you fans. All the best, I’ll be watching and supporting from afar.”

Ok fair enough, as I've said in another post, AT's done what he thinks is best for him, his career and his family at this time in his life, and given another chance at the PL. Would you? I wish him good luck and hopefully our paths will cross again in 2 season's time, in the PL. He'll probably have to stay injury free to get a contract extension though.

We really looked after him after Man U released him & nursed him back to fitness, gave him a contract making him one of the highest paid at PR. He is a Premier manager quality player but I can't say I'm too sorry to see him gone.

He put a lot of thought into that goodbye…

I’m guessing his hand still hurts.

Good luck to him, but hoping we can find someone more consistent.

Used the club to get fit then did a runner first chance he got. Was never signing that contract. Town put a lot of effort in getting him up to speed. He had nowhere to go before we came along and gave him a chance. Not that bothered he has gone, we need people who want to be here.

You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me
It's much too late to find
You think you've changed your mind
You'd better change it back, or we will both be sorry. Axel Tuanzebe, Axel Tuan...oh-o-o-oh!

Ipswich Town Fans have changed beyond belief - we always wished players well when moving on to another Club.
The Nasty Comments these days do the Club no favours in attracting players to sign for the Club.
The Club has certainly changed - the Fans nastiness not for the better.
Wish you well Axel in your career - and Thank You !

Blueboy1981. Know we don't always agree but ur spot on with this. Love to know any of those who wouldnt want to keep their wife and family happy, rather than stay somewhere they are unhappy. Thats what he's done. His wife wanted to move back up north, so he's done what is best for him and his family. But as u say, some fans feel the need to make nasty comments about him, rather than just be glad we had a player of his calibre at the club for 2 years, and just wish him well for his future.

Blueboy1981. I think each generation becomes nastier, both in the stadium and life in general. The current crop of flare holding, flag waving, camera filming ferals like to think that they're the elite, but really don't have a clue as to how to behave courteously. I've always wished players well and given them a polite round of applause if an ex has lined up against us......err Joe Garner being the exception !

The reaction on here is so depressing. The level of vitriol and hate because a professional footballer who is from the North West and has spent a fraction of his career with us is taking up an offer from another club, in the same shameful way some of us have moved jobs, failing to dedicate our lives to one employer. He isn’t an Ipswich fan.. he was a player the club employed.

I’m sorry to echo some of the thoughts on here… it’s a trend in society that’s not for the best.

I think there are two sides to this story, he used us to get fit and Town would never had a chance of signing him if he was fit.
