Wickham Set for Return at Histon
Wickham Set for Return at Histon
Friday, 9th Jul 2010 08:44

Striker Connor Wickham is expected to included in the Town squad travelling to Histon for tonight’s second pre-season friendly (KO 7.45pm). The youngster was rested for Tuesday’s game at Newmarket, having been away with the victorious England side at the European U17 Championships earlier in the summer.

Manager Roy Keane is set to take another squad of 22 players with midfielder Luciano Civelli continuing his comeback after 16 months out with a knee ligament injury.

Keane told the club site: "Luca getting back out there was the biggest positive for us at Newmarket and we will be looking to get him more time on the pitch at Histon.”

The Argentinian played for 30 minutes as Town beat Newmarket 9-1 and had a hand in two of the goals. Prices for tonight’s game at the Glassworld Stadium are £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s.

A Town reserve side faces Hadleigh at their Millfield ground on Saturday (KO 3pm). A list of the Blues’ pre-season games can be found here.

Hope that dodgy, wide-boy spiv Redknapp stays away!
(Hope that wasn't negative!)
Actually, good point ~ who are the closet inbred budgies who come on here being negative all the time? You know who you are! Clear off back to turnip land and leave this site to REAL fans!

@ roytheboy

I was expecting 20 posts about how Connor has only got the 9 shirt to increase his value. Or something similarly cretinous.

Face it naysayers.... we is gonna score loads of goals next term!

If we don't score at least 15 tonight, Keane needs to be shot !!!! By the way, anyone hear that Stern John was released by Palace. Probably will be partnering Connor and then leading the line when Connor is sold by September.

Elvis, can you try and be a little more optimistic please? I can see your frustrations (mainly directed toward Keano) but The squad of players we have now and where they are set to play on the pitch are good enough to compete against any club in the league! I personally can't see Connor going anywhere (at least for this season) - Trust me, this is our season to come good.

Erkan Okay is in the Histon Squad, remember him? And I did a double take when I saw Adam Tann - but it was Tanner who played for us a couple of decades ago, wasn't it?

IpswichElvis: You only want 15 tonight? That's a little short isn't it? Tonight is about fitness and nothing more, yes it would be great to get a hat full, but I suspect if any of their management/players took in the Newmarket game the other night, they'll park the bus in front of their goal tonight, just to keep the score down!

I liken our contented fans to 'Office Juniors' naive, wet behind the ears & no real knowledge of anything different.

Elvis-why dont you get down on the pitch, show them how its done, since obviously you could do so much better.

I am being optimisic !!! We should be scoring at least 15 tonight against a team of dustmen, window cleaners and burger flippers. As for Connor, I think Marcus has given Cleggy orders to sell if an acceptable offer comes in. Watch for this offer sometime the last week of August. I think Marcus now wants a return on his investment so he can buy a new helicopter. As for Stern John returning, would you really be astounded if he does come back?? Dimwitted Keano looks after his mates. He bought Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole and Ian Harte to Sunderland and gave them one last fat signing on fee.

SiBo, That was funny. Did you know Histon's number 9 is also Ipswich's bus driver? Maybe he will park it in front of the Ipswich goal in case our defence trips over their feet whilst under pressure from the sustained Histon attacks.

I have my "Suspicious Mind" about you. I think that you are "All Shook Up" at the thought of Keane doing a "Steamroller Blues" into the premieship. Why don't you go back "In The Ghetto" because "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" for the the Blues. You no longer have a "Burning Love" for ITFC, but just remember if you do want to come back into the fold and admit to Keane "How Great Thou Art" then perhaps we may "Love You Tender." So, "Don't be Cruel" and perhaps we can say to you "I Cant Stop Loving You" and "The Wonder Of You" will be a "Big Hunk Of Love" But I suspect really that you're nothing more than a "Hound Dog"!!

Ipswich Elvis: In reply to your earlier post regarding the Histon number 9...

No, No, No.... your information is out of date matey... The ITFC Spanish Bus Driver WAS the Histon number 9 last season but he's been stripped of the shirt for continually flinging himself into a flamenco style dance every time the ball is played to him. When asked why, he reportedly replied that it was his famous goal celebration and since he doesn't score many these days, he thought it best just to forget trying to score and go ahead with it anyway...
So the young and up and coming local fishmongers apprentice Ivor Wickpork now wears the number 9 as he looks a good prospect for the future and Histon fans have high hopes he'll become the life and sole of the team moving forward. There have been repeated reports that Harry Ramsden's have offered 2 cod and chips, 4 plaice and chips and a Large Rock Ell and mushy pea's for young Wickpork's services this year, but most believe it's just the local boo boy fans trying to wind up the loyal supporters on the Histon fans website.

I got all the above information on that world wide web thingy and as you know, everything on their has to be true...

SiBo, I have confirmed your information via the man in the pub. He says everything is correct. He is also stating that Keane is looking at the young nippy centre forward who currently plays for Folkestone Roofing FC. Not got a lot of pace but that is because he "warms up" in the pub and consequently has a bit of a gut. His teammates call him "Ruud Gut". He also gets sent off on regular occasions for lighting up a fag during the game and chatting up some of the local slappers who cheer from the crowd.
