Trotter: I've Nothing Against Keane
Trotter: I've Nothing Against Keane

Former Blue Liam Trotter says he has nothing negative to say about ex-boss Roy Keane ahead of this evening’s Carling Cup tie between his new club Millwall and Town this evening. Trotter opted to join the Lions on a two-year deal in the summer, having been offered a new one-year contract by the Blues.

Trotter said: "I have no bad words to say about Roy Keane. He gave me a taste of Championship football at the start of last season. It was tough in a side that was not doing well, and it didn't work out so I've moved on.”

The 22-year-old says he felt Town’s offer was more aimed at securing cash if he moved on than keeping him at Portman Road: "The Ipswich deal I was offered in the summer seemed to me to be more like a compensation one and was nothing concrete.

"The offer from Millwall was a better option and things had gone well until we came down to earth with a bump against Watford at the weekend.”

The Ipswich-born midfielder hopes that his side will get back to form after the 6-1 home thrashing by the Hornets: "I hope it was just a freak result. Sometimes you need a wake-up call and we hope to put that ghost to bed against Ipswich.

"I'm playing games that I would not have done at Portman Road, and for a club on the rise, and, yes, of course I'll celebrate if Millwall win tonight."

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett is similarly looking for his side to bounce back: "Losing always hurts, especially when it's 6-1 at home.

"Sometimes you need a reminder of what you have done well, and what you need to improve on. It's not like us to concede from corners, yet Watford scored three times from them.

“The Ipswich match tonight gives us a chance to try and bounce straight back from that defeat. We're pleased to have got this far in the Carling Cup, but we have to rise to the challenge now to progress further and return to winning ways."

He's doing well for Milwall this season. Got on the scoresheet a few times.

I have a friend who supports Millwall who was impressed by Trotter from his loan period, so was delighted that he turned down the Town contract offer in favour of joining Millwall. Trotter has continued to perform well for them at Championship level.

Don't know about that Yallop. I thought he scored Millwall's only goal when they lost 6-1 at home!
