Keane: Nothing But Positives Tuesday, 21st Sep 2010 22:36
Boss Roy Keane said there were nothing but positives to be taken from the 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Millwall. The Blues manager, who is expecting news on his targeted loan signing in the next couple of days, says a number of the fringe players involved against the Lions have pressed their claim for inclusion at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Keane said: “There were nothing but pluses for us. Another good finish from Tamás. I thought Reggie did well, Luke did well, Tom Eastman did well, Jaime in the middle of the park. A good game from Andros as well tonight.
“Damien Delaney got 90 minutes under his belt, Mark Kennedy did as well. Murphy did well in goal and I don’t think anyone’s really picked up any injuries tonight.
“Some players have held their hand up and said ‘I want to get involved on Saturday’, which is a good situation for me.”
Keane felt the Lions gave his team a tough evening: “The third goal was always going to dictate how the game was going to finish in the last 20 minutes. Credit to Millwall, they made it hard for us but we’re glad to be through.”
The Blues boss, who unsurprisingly would like a home draw in the next round, says there could be news on his targeted loanee in the next couple of days: “Judging by the results of other clubs tonight, I’d hope to have news on the player we’re interested in because of their result. I’d hope we’ll have positive news on that tomorrow or Thursday.”
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett thought his side were a touch unfortunate to be defeated: “We showed some spirit tonight and I think on the overall balance of the game we were unlucky to lose.
“We started the game very well and created several chances. Ipswich scored the first goal against the run of play and we lost our way after that for the rest of the half.
“It was a very poor and sloppy second goal straight from a freekick and that doubled the task. We needed to get in at 1-0 down. On the balance of play and the chances we would have been unlucky to go in 1-0 down at half-time.
“We showed some spirit in the second half,” Jackett continued, “but we perhaps made the wrong decisions. However, we showed some spirit and we put some pressure on Ipswich and if you’re going to lose, that’s the way to go down — playing with some spirit and competing.”

comeonthegoodtimes.... A good rational posting - agree with every point you make! The feeling being a town fan is bloody brilliant right now! I really fancy a mouth watering big team at home in the next round of the cup. More for good spectator value than the progression - My attention is firmly focused toward the league rather than a cup run! But all said and done long may our run of good performance continue.. In Keano we trust - What a legend in the making! Saturday... Going for a 1-3 win and a decent cup draw! ha ha! Wicked... Bloooooo Army!

The poor attendance this season is very largely due to the sad people who can only support the team when they are doing well, support should be unconditional and comprehensive, Roy Keane was chosen for very good reasons, to make our club successful again, he was given a minimum of two years and now he has the players that he wanted, those who show respect and commitment, we are getting somewhere, incidentally I am not a plonker, maybe Raedwald you should take a good look at yourself before insulting me in the same way that you have no doubt insulted our Manager many times and will do again as soon as we lose a couple of matches !!

Fully agree with comeonthegoodtimes..Thought all the young players did very well last night,if as you say ,a bit green round the edges. Poor attendances may be down to credit crunch or very high ticket prices. Keane may have got a few things wrong last season, but, not much wrong this year.

and Prisken scoring again.... how many did he get last year? thats three so far this year and he hasnt started that many!!! Dont think he played a blinder but strikers are payed to put balls into nets and he is certainly showing he is capable of that! I was at the ground last tuesday and what was so disappointing was the lack of team spirit, no idea what happened that day but as against Bristol City and Cardiff and now Millwall the feeling around the ground/club/team is one of real belief! i havent enjoyed being a town fan so much in years!!!

Give the results and the Crowds will follow, I think all the stay away fans this year are still trying to come to terms with being so wrong about our manager last year that they are embaressed to show there faces Also they find it really hard to get there arm chairs through the turnstiles..... All be it you can't please some people, a Number of so called fans moaned last year about spending good money and watching rubbish and Yes i was a concerned fan i don't mind admitting but never gave up the hope and this year were playing in my opinion the best football in 6-7 years and still people find reasons to doubt our ability and complain, The amount of people i've heard saying "WERE playing grate stuff this year" who i also heard last year saying "THERE not playing well and deserve everything they get" Who strangely enough i've not seen yet at the grund is uncanny BUT, This goes out to all the Stay away supporters YOUR CLUB STILL LOVES YOU AND ALTHOUGH YOU GAVE UP ON ITFC THE CLUB NEVER GAVE UP ON YOU. SO, LEAVE THAT GARDENING TILL SUNDAY, CHANGE THE SHOPPING DAY WITH THE MISSUS TO A NIGHT DURING THE WEEK AND GET YOURSELF DOWN TO PORTMAN ROAD, I think you'll be suprised and you never know you might actually find yourself cheering alot more and the only thing in your hands will be the other one where your claping rather than holding your head in them...... comeonthegoodtimes...... hmm bit sexist arent you! change the shopping day with the missus?!!!! what about all those lovely lady fans out there who may have given up eh? other than that i am with you 100%, i really was quite upset about handing over all that money this year for my season ticket after the dross of last year BUT i support my club through good and bad so renewing was never in doubt! oh and plus the fact my 10 yr old would never forgive me if i didnt, he has been a fan since he was old enough to shout COYB!!!! (which is made even more funny by the fact his uncle supports NUUUUURRRRRRWWWWWWIIIICCCCHHH!

Bluelady - Please accept my apologies, it wasn't ment in a sexist way and yes the lovely lady fans are just as important to the club as there male counterparts. So i'm very sorry and I'm glad you decided to renew your ticket as i did,

The reason why we are winning is because all the negative supporters don't watch ITFC anymore. We don't need you. Stay away. Positive vibes...

Ha ha ha ha!! I just knew bluelady would collar you for that one! ha ha! What a great time to be a blue's fan... True support never wains! parting with the renewal money was hard work - but worth every penny now! I am so proud to say I went to every game last season and I can look back on it with tears and a wry smile! Thank god we got to where we are now... 'ALWAYS KEEPING THE FAITH' - In Keano we trust... Oh and i was once told off by the guy who then sat in front of me for 'shouting too loudly'! can you believe it, i appologised and said i was sorry i thought i was at a footie match not a funeral!

Zippyrainbow - i don't normally react to things posted on here but i think your being a bit harsh, They where pretty much our reserves last night, People want Kean to field a second string in these matches and when he does and win no doubt people like yourself still see a negative. I know your entitled to your opinion but Once in a while it would be nice to see that Zippy wrote something positive for a change. But i'll forgive you as clearly from your status being Zippy you live in the past. It's all about In The Night Garden now mate and Iggle Piggle. Live in the here an now and if you are a true blue you should be loving every minute of it..... COYB

Bluelady - don't ever apologies for shouting to loud..... I'd quite happily have you infront of me shouting your head off with a bit of passion...:o) In purely the football and supporting aspect that is......thought id better clear that up incase i get reported....lol Seriously though i get a buzz when PR is rocking, You sing all you want to.
BrightBlue added 13:29 - Sep 22
I was fortunate enough to have experienced my 1st visit to PR in 1978 amidst the highest highs. Last weekend I took my 5 year old son to his first 1st team game and he said the same thing I am reported to have said 'its really good here, can I come all the time'? On the way home he was waxing lyrical about his experience and ITFC .... a chip off the ol' block you might say! Carry on the good work boys, it feels like the season we add to our history!

Ive got a good feeling that this loan signing will be a high profile player because surley Keano would put all this time and effort into a nobody. I recon one of the two (that he is APPARANTLY after) will be a right back as we are really short in that area, neither Eastman or Peters are natural right backs and you can see that at times. The other one i think will be an attacking midfielder, but this is all rumours you know what Keanos like very unpredictable at times. COYB!

ha ha ha! comontehgoodtimes you are wasted on here.... ha ha! The whole blue army has a smile on its face! and the shouting and getting stared at is bizarre eah! I have never known anywhere like it... It will get better/louder with success, I'm sure! so shout and support the team ladies & guys alike! Lets make Portman Road a rocking fortress!
comeonthegoodtimes added 14:46 - Sep 22
BlooooCD - It's funny you say that i'm wasted on here, I was thinking of leaving this site and going onto the Norwich fan forum for a few weeks as i'v been reading the 606 on BBC and they actually post more comments on our board then they do there own...... All i can put it down to is that there actually ITFC fans under all thoughs feathers and budgie poo but because they obviously haven't got anything to cherp about at the minute then they just like winding us guys and gals up on here. Although i will give them some credit......... ........??........ ......??.... Ok so i'm struggling to think of anything at the minute but there is one good thing about Norwich and you can drive really fast on it... i think they call it the A140 to Ipswich..... I know i Know I'm now going to be told off for picking on People less fortunate than ourselves but no one forced them to follow follow follow, follow the team in the Shadow.....sorry Yellow. Oh and Bluelady, I'm glad you took that last comment about all the passion and shouting out loud as a joke.....Don't want to affend a fellow Blues fan. By the way i sit in the North stand and always have a drink at half-time at the back....you can't miss me, I'm the one in the Ipswich town shirt holding a beer...lol COYB

Can't see ya but defo heard ya.......i can normally see a lad with his arms crossed and shaking his head as if he's embarressed of something but the seat next to him is normally empty or is that where you sit and you are just standing up at the time i look over and your just so small i can't see ya?
