Keane Tipping Top Two to Go All the Way
Keane Tipping Top Two to Go All the Way

Town boss Roy Keane says he expects current top two QPR and Cardiff to fill the automatic promotion places in what he otherwise expects to be the tightest Championship in years. The Blues boss sees his own side as one of a number chasing the play-off places.

Keane said: “I think the two teams that have the best chance of promotion will be QPR and Cardiff and then there’ll be a battle between all the others.

“And I’m including the likes of Portsmouth, the teams that are capable of going on a run of games, in that.

"Middlesbrough too, if they get the right new manager, you just don’t know what’s going to happen. Forest, Swansea have had a great start to the season, we saw Watford the other night, Norwich.

“We just hope we’re in the mix. I think it will be a lot tighter between the next few teams, but I would still fancy Cardiff and QPR in terms of the automatic promotion places and then there’s a battle for the next four.”

Keane believes gamblers need to be careful with their money: “If you’re a betting man, never touch the Championship on your coupon; you just never know what you’re going to get.”

Keaneish, although I don't subscribe to some of the anti-Keane drivel on here, I'm really glad I'm not pro-Keane it must be such a bore every week to try to justify the utter 'clap-trap' he comes out with, I'm getting really bored with it, Keane said he'd get us up in 2 seasons, maybe even one, lets judge him on where we are at the end of season two. I just wish he'd do what most managers do, let the team talk for him, so shut the feck up Roy & concentrate on the job in hand!!!!

PSG, have to say I now agree. I was a Keane supporter until these views. Mans a genuine idiot and quicker he goes the better.
Apparently we're "slow" and don't like change and we "know very little about football"! So little in fact that we don't know playing 1 up front at home invites defeat! Staggering.
Mans a pratt! Keane OUT!

Roy Keane has risked a major bust-up with Ipswich owner Marcus Evans, claiming the club won't win promotion.

The Irishman, 39, claims he has been shackled in the transfer market and vented his frustration at missing out on Shaun Derry and a host of other targets.

'I don't see us winning automatic promotion - and that's not me being defeatist.

Transfer fury: Keane believes failure to land players has seriously hampered Town's progress
'It is also going to be one hell of a battle to finish in the top six. The top two have a lot more experience than us.

I read this article on the daily mail website. Im not sure how true it is but its typical keane talk.

The truth is, he know's we are an average Championship side, there isn't very much between any of the sides really apart from possibly QPR and Cardiff and even to say that is far too early...I too can see why gates are slowly falling though, can't think of too many players I'd pay £30 to want to see in our squad, he simply hasn't signed enough quality to take us forward imo, great mangers can spot great talent who can make the step up, I worry Keane hasn't got this though..
