Academy striker Caolan Lavery has been added to the Northern Ireland U21 squad for their friendly against Scotland at Partick Thistle’s Firhill on Wednesday. Lavery had initially been on standby, while Blues midfielder Josh Carson was named in the original squad.

Lavery recently switched allegiance to Northern Ireland from Canada, the country of his birth, who he had represented at U17 level. The 18-year-old has already won caps for the Northern Irish U19s, while Carson has played at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.

Both Carson, 17, and Lavery will win their first U21 caps if they are involved on Wednesday.
