Pablo Loan to Be Cut Short?
Pablo Loan to Be Cut Short?
Wednesday, 22nd Dec 2010 09:36

Crystal Palace could look to cut Town frontman Pablo Couñago’s season-long loan short, according to a report in London. The Spanish striker has scored only twice in 11 starts and six sub appearances since moving to Selhurst Park in August.

The 31-year-old is due to remain with George Burley’s Eagles until the end of his Town contract in June and the Blues are unlikely to want him to return. Manager Roy Keane has already said he’ll be looking for new additions to his striking ranks when the transfer window opens in January.

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza manager Javier Aguirre wants to sign former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos from Spurs in January: "Gio could be a very important part of my plans," said the La Liga club's boss.

Makes no sense. Surely Burley knew what he was getting when he went in for him..

It wouldn't surprise me if RK wants him back for no reason at all, then starts him for the next 10 games.

If we fail to get anyone else in the window, then Pablo could do a job?

If he comes back would he want to do a job ? Knowing no new contract is coming is not an incentive to play at all , let alone well ! Pablo is a good player when he feels like it so is not consistent enough to warrant waiting for the good stuff !

Feel sorry for Pablo in a way - he was a terrace favourite here, but his inconsistency and downright laziness at times seems to have caught up with him and even Palace have had enough!

Thought we had seen the last of him ! If he comes back pay up the rest of his contract to the end of the season and let him find a club in January.

Basically he is not good enough for us and not good enough for Palace.

Why are some blaming Roy for this?!!

Pablo simply isn't good enough any more. Hopefully, Palace will homour this loan deal. Pablo simply doesn't score!!

Jesus lads, what did he do to you lot pee in all your beers at once?

Best of luck to him wherever he goes and thanks for your time Pablo. Pay his contract up and let him go for a free in January to a club where he can finish his career.

This is the season of goodwill to all men and last time I looked he was a man!

theres no way the club would let him come back if it means we have to pay his wages again. why would it, ITFC have no obligation to take him back.

the story must be rubbish

If he has been loaded to Palace for the season
don't both sides have to agree to cut short the loan? as we did with Townsend
therefore he has to stay unless Roy/Ipswich want him back

Well I always liked him..ok he was lazy at times but the likes of Rooney & Torres have hardly set the world alight either over the last 12 months have they?!

Gave us something different..probably too skillful for his own good as things are at PR at the moment.

Good luck Pabs..maybe a new manager (hopefully here) will get the best out of you.

Pablo was never good enough apart from 02/03. Our continued faith in him is one of the reasons we've not been in the top flight for 10 years.

Agree with NTHSTD (who is increasingly talking sense in an otherwise fickle and confused environment!) - let's perhaps be a little bit fairer to Pablo.

Yes he can be lazy and yes he isn't a goalscorer (to expect him to score bags full of goals is missing the point), but he provides something we simply don't have at the moment i.e. creativity and hold-up play (although Fallon is showing signs that he will give us the latter)

If we don't need this then fine, let's pay up his contract and wish him well - why the apparent malice?

For me, Pablo represented a time that was far more exciting than the one we are currently being dragged through. He remains the most technically gifted player on our books and on his day he could make things happen. Yes, his 'days' were too few and far between, but can anyone genuinely say we have someone as capable of turning a game on our bench at the moment? I doubt it.

Oh for the days when we had flair players, players with creativity running through their veins! My only wish for Christmas (and you could shove your Xbox Konnect up your arse if santa granted it) is to see Ipswich Town fielding a team with just a handful of creative players capable of playing free free flowing, uninhibited, exciting football again.

Alas, it just ain't gonna happen.
