Pablo Loan to Be Cut Short?
Pablo Loan to Be Cut Short?
Wednesday, 22nd Dec 2010 09:36

Crystal Palace could look to cut Town frontman Pablo Couñago’s season-long loan short, according to a report in London. The Spanish striker has scored only twice in 11 starts and six sub appearances since moving to Selhurst Park in August.

The 31-year-old is due to remain with George Burley’s Eagles until the end of his Town contract in June and the Blues are unlikely to want him to return. Manager Roy Keane has already said he’ll be looking for new additions to his striking ranks when the transfer window opens in January.

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza manager Javier Aguirre wants to sign former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos from Spurs in January: "Gio could be a very important part of my plans," said the La Liga club's boss.

I agree, Pablo could do a job..... I hear the tea lady is retiring at the end of the year!!

Basically Palace have now realised what a lazy & expensive mistake it has been signing him, & think they may have better luck in the Jan transfer window. Lets see if we can loan them Priskin.....

Too f*cking right borge. Anyone who has watched palace this season would have seen that he's played well. Those who havnt are all the people saying 'he's only scored two goals, rubbish etc'. I think you'll find under a decent manager who doesn't shout your b*llocks off every time you have a bad game and a manager most players will respect (burley obviously) Pablo is not lazy and creates chance after chance, wont always put them away but can you honestly say priskin is any better?! Pablo does as much as priskin and more. I can always remember Pablo just walking the the ball into the net, in the good days of football at Portman road.

i think we have missed someone with his ability at times and he would be playing with a desire for a new contract. that always motivates players

Pity Garvan's wasn't a loan deal, I'd welcome him back with open arms. Just what our central midfield is crying out for.
Some may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

Getting rid of Garvan and Pablo just signaled keane's intent for ipswich- boring negative, never score more than one goal football

Agree with Garv.

One thing RK seems to overlook is performance during matches and the ability to make a difference. I have come round to Priskin, but as good as he may be during training, is he actually any less lazy/more interested than Pablo when it comes to a match situation?

Frankly I don't give a f*ck how much character someone shows in training, how many tackles they make in a practice match or how much desire they show on your average winter's morning at Playford Road, what I care about is how much impact they have on a match day.

If you are going to get rid of all flair and impact players because of a desire to see some 'character' you are going to end up with a pretty dreary brand of football that no matter how loyal the majority are, will eventually prove to be a turn-off to even the most ardent of fans (and having been to virtually every home match since 1991, I include myself in that group).

Long term this club has no future if the style of football continues in the way it has over the past 18 months and even stretching back beyond that to include all of Magic's tenure. Ultimately people care about two things; results and entertainment. They can cope without the former if they are getting the latter and they may for a while cope with a lack of entertainment if success is forthcoming, but they most certainly can't cope without either. If a change of style isn't made then a change of manager must be. If neither happens then I certainly fear a massive decline in season ticket numbers next year.

I have never been a fan of Keano, but he was certainly proved right to ship Pablo out. On this occaision, well done Keano!

Those who say Pablo isn't good enough are wrong. he's always been good enough, got more talent than the rest of our team put together. What he hasn't got is a good work ethic. If only he had put in the effort and the right attitude, he'd have been playing at the highest level. What a terrible waste of a career. Still, reckon his bank balance is fairly healthy, courtesy of his first stint with ITFC

I agree Pablo is not a 'workhorse' but some of the comments on here are a disgrace, he has talent in abundance but has been playing with donkeys for the past few years. He never has been, nor never will be, an out and out goalscorer but what 'Roy Keane's Ipswich' need is quality & skill, we've got enough 'hoof footballers' to keep Wimbledon's memory alive for years!
I'm not saying he's good enough for us now but he's a darn site better than Fallon!! Just ask my mate at Plymuff Argyle!!

I have some great memories of Pablo. Bringing the ball out of the sky with one touch and keeping the ball with clever movement, the little chip to win the game against Cov last year, tracking back and winning the ball to go on and score against Sheff Utd (i think) back in Royle's era, the cheeky back heel against Charlton, the sweet left footed effort against QPR at the end of Magilton's reign......has all this magic been forgotten by some??

With a bit of pace and more consistency he could have been as good as Zola or Di Canio.

In the games I watched (which is every home game), Pablo worked his socks off under Keane. The service to him was crap, hence every other striker has also struggled. Personally I think you have to believe in Pablo and have the rest of the team playing to his strengths. Then you might just get some exciting football that would be worth turning up for!

Hope Pablo will make a comback again. He's got that little extra that can change matches for us - hold up play, genuine passes, skill. OK - he's not a fighter, but let him do what he's good at!
WELCOME BACK, PABLO !

Pablo had some great games for us and on many occasions showed his true class.
Unfortunately these were few and far between and when Pablo ran out onto the pitch you knew whioch Pablo you would see and towards the end he just was not interested in playing for ITFC. Whether it be the fault of Keano or whoever he obviously did not to play for us so why take him back now as in my opinion he would be a luxury as he would not be selected. How many times has he actually started for Palace certainly not a regular by any means.

We're near the time of the FA Cup third round, and it's the very occasional Pablo brilliance that I like to remember, I think we were 11 v 11 at the time, it was the 'dummy' over a low mis-hit corner at Churchmans that took out David James plus two other Portsmouth defenders leaving Billy Clarke with an open goal which I'm afraid he missed at the far post.
