Watford Match Postponed
Sunday, 26th Dec 2010 13:48

The match this afternoon between Town and Watford has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

An inspection at 13:15 deemed the pitch to be inconsistent with some areas playable and others not.

this is a very late call off. Those Watford fans and out of town Town fans will be well pissed off !

Marcus Evans should really get his finger out and buy some Undersoil heating like Naarwich have, we played last week and now look. If ME "loved" the club as he said surely he'd invest in buying Undersoil heating so our games wouldn't get postponed.

Itfc get more like an amature club everyday, if thepitch is frozen now them it was frozen hours ago, get some undersoil heating instead of buying second class players for first class money

Yes I cant believe it . ITFC are just as amature as Man City, Notts Forest , Arsenal etc , who have all had games called off over the last 10 days. Disgraceful eh !

GET REAL !!

This is unacceptable. A decision an hour before KO, me and my family are on the A12 having travelled from Kent as we do for every home game, now having to turn around. So we can play when its heavy snowfall against Leicester, but can't play in less severe conditions on a daytime KO, a lot of people have a lot to answer for!

Yes I agree the REF has a lot to answer for . Far too late a decision tbh !

what a farce itfc r at this moment in time. 4get the argument 4 undersoil heating, apparently it has its disadvantages 2. we have a protection system that shld ensure all matches go ahead, but i can only presume that the groundstaff didnt listen 2 the forecast of temperatures of -8 for the last 2 nites & therefore didnt raise the covers & use the heaters 2 ensure the pitch was fine. sot it out every1 at itfc.

Unacceptable. Any professional club which cannot get a home game on should forfeit the points, and we are no different. When they bought the cheapo balloon thing they said it would mean that there would NEVER be a match called off here. We will be a laughing stock after the previous game.

RetroBlue, the thing is London and up North have had a lot of snow which has been frozen over, we have had no snow and our game is off, those games got called off because it wasn't safe for people around the ground with road's and paths ours is just lame.

oh, & as previous posters have said, why wasnt this decision made earlier. sure a couple of hours werent gonna change the state of the pitch with temperatures still below zero. luckily im local so not far 2 go, but 4 those who live outside the region & of course the watford fans, it a total waste of time & money having had 2 travel 4 nothing. ridiculous

snow tends to act as an insultaion agaisnt the frost. As soon as you take that snow covering , or any cover off the ground will freeze.

The only issue I have is that this game should have been called off this am , not one hour before ko ! It really isnt fair on the travelling fans.

Pls note Everton have had their game called off today , as have Palace from memory. So ITFC are no different - except for WHEN they called the game off. And that I puit down to the ref!

Not really the refs fault is it?

ITFCspudd added 14:13 - Dec 26
Retro As I said London and North have said alot of snow which makes it difficult to travel around the ground so that's why Everton and Crystal Palace's matches have been called off because it's not safe around the ground where as ours isn't an excuse at all the pitch should not be frozen.

Why was the inspection so late? Referee's fault? Show's no consideration for the Watford or out of town fans. Should have inspection at about 11.30 am or midday at the latest. Pathetic!

It's a refs decision so why is it suddenly towns fault??? Snow does add as an insulation it protects the ground from frost, also town have been using large warm air blowers last day or so, have done their best, next it will be keane fault!!! Ref should have made decision early am

It isn't the ref's fault it's the ground staff's fault.

Where's Stuart Atwell when you need him, not impressed had a 200 mile trip down in pub for 1 an games called off at 1.30 - we only get sh#t refs!

ITFC spudd;' Its the REFS call , not ITFC. It is HIS fault this game has been called of SO LATE .

Which bit of this do you not comprehend ?

ITFCspudd added 14:22 - Dec 26
The thing is the club shouldn't have give the ref a decision to make, we're a professional club and should be able to deal with temperature's like -8.

Bluetone added 14:22 - Dec 26
We are getting more like a Blue Square club both on and off the pitch as the weeks pass.

I was really looking forward to this game, in recent times we haven't had that many on Boxing Day [at home].
This is rubbish!!! Some say it is the refs fault but again the pitch is up tothe club. I can understand if the weather is poor and causes problems but, this notice an hour and a half before is stupid.
But to come to think of it there are a lot of thing that are wrong, and not just at this club... I think it is getting to the time where footy fans up and down the country need to start to voice their views about how football is going down the drain...
