Town Linked With Dutch Striker Wednesday, 5th Jan 2011 22:56
Town, QPR, ADO Den Haag and unnamed Premier League sides are eyeing VVV Venlo striker Ruud Boymans, according to reports in Holland. The 21-year-old has scored nine league goals this season, more than half of his relegation-threatened club’s total of 17.
The 6ft 2in tall frontman was born in the appropriately named Dutch town of Born and started his career with local side VV Born as an amateur. He began his professional career with Fortuna Sittard, making his debut in the 2007/08 season.
After two years in the Eerste Divisie (second tier), scoring 12 league goals in 46 matches, Boymans moved on to top flight side Venlo in 2009, signing a three-year deal.
In his first season with his new club the strong, all-action centre forward scored four goals in 16 matches but this year he has pushed on and has netted nine times in 18 matches.
Meanwhile, Blues boss Roy Keane - sporting a flat cap - and first team coach Tony Loughlan were at Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City at the Emirates, keeping an eye on next week’s Carling Cup semi-final opponents.
Elsewhere, former Town and Gunners striker Paul Mariner is set to be named the new general manager of MLS side Toronto FC on Thursday with ex-Dutch international Aron Winter joining as his head coach. Mariner left Plymouth Argyle at the end of last week.

After watching Forest game I would say we need creative midfielder and winger who can give decent balls to box. Now our midfield look like there's 4 Roy Keane playing, good on running and tackling but no brains. I miss even Garvan...

They are probably after the wrong player again. If they want a striker with proven ability over here they should look to EVERTON who plays for Heracles in the top flight over here. He is quality and because he plays for a smaller club should still be affordable - even for Town. Don't know what our European scout Mr Hunt is doing these days but not a lot I would suggest. If they want any help I have lived over here for 20 years and would dedicate my scouting skills to the club for free!

Im sure the shrewd Mr Evans would snap your offer up in a second! This lad could be decent, seems built for the Championship. Wickhams replacement? Possibly

It looks like Keano has got the vote of confidence, as he was at the Emirates last night surveying the Arsenal. Right now Mr. Evans as you look as though you have got that sorted to suit you, the next employee to come through our door is a STRONG EXPERIANCED ASSISIANT MANAGER if that happens I think you might start to get the fans backing again, I believe we have the players, but they are not managed right, I do not see Keano making notes during the game either, but notice all other managers do and in the premiership !!!! I mean to say Keanos first game in charge here there was 27,255 and that was only Coventry, I do not see that happening again for a league match do you ????????

Not that we will get him, but sounds like the replacement for CW when he goes. so many similarites, age, size, style of football. So wont be coming here then. No scouting network at ITFC anymore ME cutbacks to save money. Next
