Jewell: Scotland May Start at Doncaster
Jewell: Scotland May Start at Doncaster
Monday, 14th Feb 2011 14:33

Town manager Paul Jewell has hinted that Jason Scotland could come into his starting line-up when the Blues take on Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday. Scotland came off the bench to score his eighth goal of the season — his first away from home — during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Barnsley.

Jewell says the Trinidadian, the subject of a loan offer from Swansea last week, could make his first start under his management: “Jason came on on Saturday and scored a good goal and he might well get his chance to start in the first team, and I’ll be delighted to be talking between now and the end of the season about how many goals he’s got.”

The Blues boss says striker Ronan Murray is fine after picking up a thigh strain in the reserves at Oxford on Wednesday: “He’s OK, he trained yesterday.”

The Irish U19 international is likely to be in the reserves side which faces Colchester’s second string at Playford Road on Wednesday afternoon (KO 2pm).

Bloody hell Ben225, how many chances do,s he get each game, how long before the lucky strike ! HE'S MISSED ON SO MANY OCCASIONS WHEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TO SCORE, Let Scotland have a crack again now Keane has gone .

I'd rather start with Priskin. Priskin isn't effective coming off a bench, Scotland on the other hand can be.

I think Healey will come in for Norris and a straight swap Scotland for Priskin. Come on town

So Ben225 you would rather have Priskin the 'great player' on the pitch to miss a few than Scotland who is 'a good finisher' to knock one in?
As I pointed out on here the other day, the same argument crops up with Benty who scores but offers little else.
Give me the goals EVERY day of the week.
I actually think both are players worth hanging on to and can do a job but Scotland will get you goals whereas Priskin may...

I would do a straight swap Hyam for Norris and leave as is. Doncaster could overwhelm us in midfield with our four if we play 4-4-2. Whatever Mr Jewell decides is fine by me but Donny do pass teams off the pitch.

I believe he is thinking of Priskin's travelling over the last few days as he played in Dubai on Wednesday and didn't get back until Friday afternoon.

I can see Scotland starting purely because of this and thinking of Hull at the weekend.

At this moment in time we need goals. Scotland misses some sitters but not as many as Priskin. As I posted previously, play Jason, if he doesn't do the business, replace him with Tamas.

Sorry, did I hear someone say Benty offers nothing other than goals!!?

Seriously, some of you wouldn't know football if you tripped over one.

think we may well see a forward loanee soon, Priskin, Scotland, neither up to it for me, but i would stick with "Barry White" up top 4 now...might build on Sats goal! would luuuuuurrrrvvvvveee it if Bazza bangs in a hat trick!! COYB!!

Although Priskin has proved how good he COULD be, the fact remains he goes through many games where he is totally ineffective. Sorry, but it's a fact. The problem for me is both our senior strikers are very inconsistent (the fact we only have two senior strikers is also very disappointing). On their day - great, but those days are too few and far between.

The better sides have options. Goal-scorers. Consistent players. I hate to say it, but look at Holt for Norwich - a consistent performer. Our strikers are simply not in that league - one good game, six or seven bad one's. For me a couple of new strikers are an absolute must if this club want to move forward.

Have to say Jas0999 i totaly agree with you!. May be wrong but think Holt is on 14 goals now ,and they dont have to rely on him !.We desperately need a quality striker.

Its understandable that the boss would turn to Scotland. He scored within a few minutes of coming on - soemthing Priskin often goes hours without doing.

As stated last week Scotland will score us a lot more goals than Priskin especially with the new style of attacking passing football we are now playing . And if we are going to play only one up front why dont we try Wickham ? With OConnor on the left or Civelli or Peters on the right ?
