Scotland Now Unlikely to Return to Swansea Wednesday, 2nd Mar 2011 09:08
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers says it’s now unlikely that Jason Scotland will return to his former club. The Swans targeted the Trinidad and Tobago international last month but the Blues rejected the deal that they were proposing.
Rodgers said: "Jason would have had to take a cut to come here. Probably that was a stumbling block, plus the fact he got into the Ipswich team and started scoring. In that situation, you will always be reluctant as a manager to let someone out.
“Jason was someone we inquired about because we felt he could score goals in this league, but a lot of things have to happen for a deal to be done."
Scotland enjoyed a hugely successful spell with the Swans between 2007 and 2009, scoring 53 goals in 91 starts and 14 sub appearances.

No problem with him staying here, we don't have anyone better, if Swansea don't go up he will will probably go there in the summer, I hope ME has got his cash ready because we really need to buy 2 or 3 players who can change this team around, without spending some serious money we will remain what we are at present, also rans.

I would rather have Tamas Priskin in the team rather than Scotland simply because he chases around after the ball more ,brings other players into play more and I think that Connor Wickham looks a better player with Priskin around.Just look at the chances Scotland had on Saturay against Portsmouth and failed to convert.

village_blue im with you. Feel its like having ten men at times with Scotland. either that or he has to be part of a 4 4 2. Priskens work rate is much higher and he was beginning to score goals, given a good run i think he would be much better.

Was it ever that 'likely' in the 1st place? we did reject their offer outright. Scotland is our top scoring striker regardless of the arguments over his weight and mobility, I think he isnt best suited to how we have been lining up but is not good enough to base a team formation around so its a bit of a tricky one in that respect. Regarding Priskin I really rate him but he frustrates me, he has got so much ability in my opinion but just doesnt apply it quite often enough, he can turn players inside out and he can finish like a top top striker, he just lacks consistency. In the case of both of these players though I hope a good pre-season and a fresh start under Jewell next season will provide a catalyst to bring the best out of them, im still convinced priskin especially is more than capable of scoring the coveted 20 goals in a season at this level, iv seen less gifted players do it.

As the man said: Jason ' barndoor' Scotland or Tamas ' I don't need to look along the line ' Priskin. Once we're settled points wise, 4-4-2 Wickham or Murry with Priskin. Having said that, is Murry another talent we want to start flaunting in front of the big boys already ?

The answer is to buy a quality midfielder, and 2 decent strikers, then ship out Scotland and Priskin, neither will get us promoted, although I have serious doubts whether the club is actually that ambitious, I suspect they will not spend the money and we will stay where we are, I think its much more likely that we will need a new owner to see this club move forward.

id drive him to Swansea myself to be honest.when he arrived i thought he hasnt been playing, he'll get fit as the season goes by,but he hasnt lost a single pound of the spare tyre he carries around his waist. He's the best finisher at the club of that there is no doubt but that is all he is good at and we arent the kind of team that puts chances on a plate for that kind of player. He cant play as the lone striker in our current system as he's too slow, lazy and fat and doesnt even read the game well. and for a man of his considerable size he gets knocked off the ball far too easily. Priskin isnt the long term answer either but he suits the 4-1-4-1 much better and id have him in every time over lazy bones

Billy Sharpe and Nicky Maynard would sort us out next season. A combined cost of £8mil would do the trick!

tractorboy not sure there are new owners Queing up outside, we have a perfectly good owner who i believe with the right manager in charge will invest, dont blame him from holding back the money from Keane this season...

Scotland Now Unlikely to Return to Swansea pity, he's not much good and reflects the standard of our current players. Mostly average, mostly mid table.

Well we can hardly let 50% of our senior strikers leave!

If Mr Scotland scores half a dozen goals between now and the end of the season, it will have been worth it as it will ensure safety. Let him go only when we have adequate cover which at the moment we most certainly dont.

knock him all you like, but without Scotland's goals this season we would be in the bottom 3, what he needs is help, playing Wickham wide left was a 'needs must' against Vengers Vankers, but he is totally wasted in that position, stick him up front close to Scotland and we just might see a parnership

Keep your eyes on Burnham Wood, when that starts moving towards Dunsinane then Scotland might be on the way to Swansea.
