QPR Linked With Bullard Move
QPR Linked With Bullard Move
Thursday, 14th Apr 2011 08:43

QPR will move for Town loanee Jimmy Bullard in the summer, according to one of this morning’s newspapers. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Portman Road with Paul Jewell having confirmed the start of talks with Hull about the possibility of a permanent deal during the close season.

Bullard, who has two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week contract at the KC Stadium, has also said he’d be keen on joining the Blues longer term, however, the chance of a return to the Premier League with Neil Warnock’s soon-to-be-promoted side at this late stage in his career would certainly be of interest to the one-time England call-up.

Meanwhile, released Town striker Pablo Couñago has told club insiders that he plans to return to Spain at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old was at Portman Road on Saturday to watch the Blues’ 2-1 defeat of Crystal Palace, with whom he has spent the season on loan. Couñago's Town contract comes to an end this summer and with manager Paul Jewell confirming that no new terms will be on offer.

The former Celta Vigo and Málaga man has scored two goals in 16 starts and 13 appearances for the bench for the Eagles.

Fellow frontman Kevin Lisbie, who has also been told he will not be offered a new contract by the Blues, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Lisbie, 32, has spent 2010/11 at Millwall, scoring four goals in 11 starts and 12 sub appearances.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are again linked with striker Connor Wickham in a number of today's papers, as he was at the weekend.

I'd mentioned this a few months ago, but it will hinge on if they keep Tarrabt. If they do they won't go for Bullard too.

Working with Neil Warnock = Sad Jimmy
Working with Paul Jewell = Happy Jimmy

but will the lure of the Premiership and a contract somewhere nearer to the value of his current one be too much to resist ?

cant blame Jimmy at this stage of his career.

if its true then good luck to him, he'll earn a pretty package playing at QPR

QPR will be linked with all the better Champ players over the next few months. TBH I wouldnt blame him if he did want another crack at the premier league
If just shows what a quality player Bullard is.

When you look at his little legs you get the feeling that he is one bad tackle from the end of his career. Find us a young Jimmy Bullard please Paul.

I agree legoman... Whilst the guy is a mid-filed meastro in our team and at this level, if you had a 70million windfall and the backing of owners like QPR you would surely look elsewhere for a younger Jimmy??!!!
I don't see QPR coming after him or him wishing to go to them.. At this level he can enjoy his game and if as he said it isn't just about money - there will hopefully be a grand house in woodbridge coming up for sale soon?!?!?!
Stay with us Jimmy... They won't love you like we do!

I totally agree with you Tractorman.
I feel, at the moment, we are in the driving seat. He loves it here he is well loved too, something big like Prem football might, turn his head though.

It was only a matter of time before he was linked with someone, If Norwich dont go up then Holt will be linked to a prem team,
Wickham and Liverpool, cant see it as the have just spend £50 million on 2 strikers so why would they spend another 10-15 million on a bench warmer at best to them,

If it was a Sunderland or Aston Villa then I could see it.

Good luck to Counago he was great for us at times and 62 goals for town is not a bad return must put him in the top 20 goalscorers for town.

Think the above stats show why we are not offering new contracts to them though

lets be honest we were expecting this sort of thing to happen. It would be great if we could keep him but im sure Jewell can find someone else with his track record (valencia).

They probably got the story from here, where people were speculating about this on the Forum a couple of weeks ago.

"Linked" = "We have no evidence, but it COULD happen, indeed it could"

usual boreing stuff. Look to sign someone almost half decent and lose them again which leaves us signing usual dross such as Leadbetter, DD, MAC and Norris. The way cleggy is performing with transfers he couldnt run a bath let alone a football club

Doesn't really matter how many teams he'll be linked with he won't sign for us permanently anyway. £45,000 to £20,000 no chance, his just saying the right things to make you all happy, he turned down celtic a while back coz of money and terms. no chance of us getting him

I have a gut feeling that he will stay. He would only be a sub at QPR - or our star man... I know what I'd rather be if I was Jimmy! (And money was no relevance)

Harry Maguire - CB at Sheff Utd - Too good for Div 1 - get in there quick. Another Terry Butcher in the making.

He has said that the money side is not the most important thing important and he is probably telling the truth, in that playing willbe the most important.

That is not to say that money will not enter into any decision. At his age the next contract could well be the last and he will want as good a deal as his agents can squeeze out of someone.

He is the player that PJ will build the team round next season. He will be virtually guaranteed first team football. We havethat in our favour, whether we can compete with wages remains to be seen

Dan itfc 55

2 years on 20k a week say with us or say 3 years on 25k a week with QPR.
it will always be the better deal, at the end of the day he has helped us keep in this division and would have helped the youngster along the way

muhrensleftfoot added 11:48 - Apr 14
He's a Premier League quality player so it doesn't surprise me. QPR would suit him well as he will be back in his native city, in the PL, & no doubt earning pots of money.
