Healy Signs Contract
Monday, 23rd May 2011 09:48

Midfielder Colin Healy has signed his new one-year deal at Portman Road. The former Ireland international indicated his intention to remain with the club prior to the final game of the season at Leicester and has now put pen to paper.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Blues from Cork City for £70,000 in the summer of 2009, recently underwent a hernia operation.

Well help me out here fellow supporters....you b"itched all season about 21 out of contract players....now we sign one who will be a good squad/cover player and you are not happy with that either.....seems the board can't win with you all.....as for peoples thoughts on Clegg, lets be realistic we are a mid-table team in the Championship we are not able to attract big players, and those we want are coverted by others so they can have demands that our chairman (who from what I recall is funding us) can decide on what his level of spend is.

Agree with you AndyUK61873 about the board not being able to win with some supporters. Nothing wrong with Healy - every squad needs people like him around. With regards to better players - if we want them then sure as anything other teams will want them as well! We'll do really, really well to get the likes of Sharp or Graham, or any other 20 goal a season striker. These will attract premium prices and the top clubs. Our best chance is to unearth a gem in the lower or even non leagues.

unrelated i know but just seen on sky sports website that Adam le Fondre has requested to leave Rotherham, if we want a prolific striker from lower leagues he MUST be worth a go.

i assume all those mocking Healy ,have a long list of names ,that are available and itching to sign for Town regardless of fee,s and wages. We struggle to sign players even on loan ,i dont think reality will ever kick in with some people on here.Healy has had his moments, but he is no worse than most of the squad.

Thank you for talking sense ANDYUK.

What I can tell you is that the signings will take place between June 3rd and 13th. I am holiday then and banned by wife from taking blackberry or laptop, therefore just to p**s me off all the transfer activity will take place during these dates.

Great news. Was worried that Barca would make a last minute bid for him

Terrible player. Demonstrates why we are a mid table mediocre side at present....

decent squad player, dependable news but not the sort of player that will be in the 1st team of any promotion-grade team

An improved 100% player who deserves his contract. But a good enough player to push us towards promotion? Not for me I'm afraid. Good back up/squad player though.

I am expecting PJ to replace Norris and Bullard (if as expected we fail to sign him). Healy is not the long-term answer.

Decent squad player - signing not exactly setting the pulse racing though!

.... decent squad player with an opportunity to push on further next season - but not saying much when even he needed time to decide whether he wanted to stay or not. Obviously wanted to see if anyone else was interested before signing.

At least someone has signed on the dotted line .............. many more needed tho' to be taken anywhere near seriously when August arrives.
