Town Face Wolves in Pre-Season
Town Face Wolves in Pre-Season
Thursday, 2nd Jun 2011 12:26

Town will play Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers in a pre-season friendly at Portman Road this summer. Mick McCarthy’s men, who avoided relegation on the final day of the season, will be in Suffolk on Saturday 30th July (KO 3pm).

The Blues last faced Wolves during their 2008/09 Championship title-winning campaign when the Midlanders won 2-0 at Portman Road via goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and David Edwards and the match at Molineux ended in a 0-0 draw.

Details of the other pre-season fixtures announced so far can be found here.

We can't attract players or any teams worthy of seeing at portman road in a pre season, the future is most definitely not blue !!!

What a waste of space ! No players but matches being arranged ! Will PJ be able to put out a team let alone a competitive one ? When we have some players then arrange games !

Why Wolves? Couldn't they find a more attractive fixture?

5000 gate at the most.

Lets hope more so called fans turn up to this one compared to last seasons West Ham pre-season. Embarassing, even if it was a so called 'protest'. More Hammers that Tractors.

As this is a reasonable friendly why doesn't the club offer tickets for a fiver, kids free? Give something back to the fans. A good performance might see afew extra at the first home league home.

I'am sorry chrisw2045 but that team would be relegated with a record low points

And I expect the tickets will be the usual rip off price, won't matter to me as I definitely won't bother, when we get some players worth watching then maybe but I will not be wasting my money on this, whatever the price.

Lets hope tickets are priced reasonably.

The idea of pre-season games isn't to give fans a chance to see a big club, but for the players to hone match fitness and for the manager to see where the squad is and learn something.

Whilst we would all want to watch Barcelona, what exactly would we learn from that? Whilst not being the most attractive of games for a fan, it should be a good fixture and help set the team up for the forthcoming season which is the point of these fixtures.
