Ellington Confirms Town Move Tuesday, 21st Jun 2011 10:21
Nathan Ellington has confirmed that he is joining Town today, subject to a medical. TWTD reported earlier that the former Watford and Wigan man was back at the club this morning having previously been at Portman Road for talks last Monday.
Ellington tweeted: “I’m signing for Ipswich today, subject to medical. Should be an Ipswich player by end [after]noon!”
The 29-year-old, who played for Paul Jewell at Wigan, finished last season on loan at Preston, where he scored two goals in seven starts and 11 sub appearances.
The relegated Lilywhites were understood to be keen to sign him on a permanent basis after his release by Watford at the end of the season, however, the Bradford-born frontman ruled out a return to the Lancastrians in a tweet over the weekend: “Won't be going back to Deepdale, I'm afraid. Things were bit complicated for the club which meant it couldn't happen.”
The 5ft 10in tall striker started his career with Walton and Hersham before moving on to Bristol Rovers. Jewell took him to Wigan for £1.2 million in March 2002 where he scored 67 goals in 139 starts and seven sub appearances largely playing alongside Jason Roberts, before moving on to West Brom for £3 million fee in August 2005.
Since signing for Watford for £3.25 million in August 2007, the Bradford-born striker has spent time on loan at Derby County, during Jewell’s spell there as manager, and in Greece with Skoda Xanthi.
Ellington is set to be unveiled at a press conference this afternoon.

He is complaining we got Chopra with no competition yes we did because he Looked at Ipswich last year when it all went on we wouldnt pay the money now Cardiff are being sensible and both Micheal, Paul, Simon and Marcus all went yes please. Finally players want to play for us Mr Dark Lord has gone and all will change. I still maintain Simons bad reputation is down to The Dark Lord and his pathetic waffling and being fueled by Mr Carrot Road Whoppit

Being a good frontman is about so much more than scoring goals, of course if you're not too bright and don't really understand football i suppose the only way you can judge a striker is by his goals record. So far i am happy with our signings, but i would like to see a few more faces come in before i start to get too excited :-)

He scored some lovely goals that year. Shame it was 7 years ago! Still, I think he's a good signing on a free, good back-up to what we have and offers something different.

Bluelady - I find Fabreez makes a bad smell go away...i think if you ignore him he will just keep making stupid comments as like you said he probably hasn't seen a live game for little while. Whoppit, When was the last time you actually watch ITFC live at portman road? do you know we've actually built a new stand at the North end? we actually have floodlights now as well, Oh and it's a all seater stadium now. oh how we've moved on.....why don't you? I hear Boston united are looking for new supporters and someone to creat a forum, I think it has your name all over it.
