Jewell Hoping to Add Two More Next Week
Jewell Hoping to Add Two More Next Week
Friday, 1st Jul 2011 17:19

Town boss Paul Jewell is hoping to make signing number five of the summer next Tuesday with the sixth following soon afterwards. Already the Blues manager has added Michael Chopra, Ívar Ingimarsson, Nathan Ellington and Aaron Cresswell to the ranks during the close season.

Jewell says he's near to completing another deal, although was giving nothing away on the player's identity: "We are close, hopefully we'll make a signing next Tuesday.

“There are all kinds of names being bandied about, aren’t there? But we try and do it as quietly as we can.

"Hopefully by this time next week we'll have at least two players in here.”

As things stand, Jewell is targeting another three or four more players before the season starts on Saturday 6th August with a trip to Bristol City.

Use the Wickham money for sharp and coppinger, and Bullard's wages. Bring in Adam smith, and nick St ledger from Leicester.

I wonder if we will spend any money on the next player? So far we have obtained players that were either not wanted by their club and unattached free agents.

How about spending some of that Wickham cash PJ but if you are after a freebie Paul, how about Julio Arca from Middlesbrough Smogmonsters??

hey whoppit....you don't always have to spend cash to get players....just look at some of the players that are out there on a free that would be a great asset......Reo-Coker, Hargreaves (if he can stay fit), Woodgate, Carew, Kamara....all players that could contribute very well to the team at no initial cost.

@ AndyUK - true. I wouldn't mind Woodgate on a play as you go. Carew would be good but I am not too impressed with Nugent.

Plus, if we don't pay transfer fees, some of these other clubs won't rip us off for our Wickham spondoolies

Whoppit he wont sign Arca coz he's sh*te!

I hope he goes for someone like Koumas who has experience of being sucessful at this level. Lets not kid ourselves were going to sign Hargreaves! At the end of the day we want our signings to play football not be advertising Stana Stairlifts, me nanas got better knees than curly locks!

No point in speculating. Just wait and see. However, its nice to know that things are coming together so quickly despite the clowns on here who seemed to think that he should have signed everyone by the end of May!

Why the hell would we want Bullard back? For goodness sake. You lot are simpletons.

i have no idea who these signings will be. all i know is that i have full trust in PJ to get the best players in for the club, and with the Wickham money floating around too, the best may be yet to come...

Good times for the tractor boys at the minute, COYB!!

Jewell is doing a fine job and it's really pleasing to have four signings by the 1st July. So long as Cresswell doesn't cost over £350K, we haven't even spent £2M yet! (in fees that is, I realise wages are the most expensive bit).

Good news. Am hoping it will be a right-back and a replacement for Wickham. Then just a CB and at least one midfield player to go!
