Andrews Says No to Leeds
Andrews Says No to Leeds
Tuesday, 2nd Aug 2011 10:52

Keith Andrews’s agent Will Salthouse has confirmed that his player will not be joining Leeds United with another club, believed to be Town, the 30-year-old Blackburn midfielder’s preferred loan destination.

Salthouse told this morning’s Yorkshire Post: "Keith won't be coming to Leeds. Leeds are still interested [in the future], but he just feels there's an opportunity somewhere else and at this moment in time, it's the best opportunity for him.

"There may be a change in the future, but at the moment, he won't be coming. I had a long chat with Simon [Grayson] and [technical director] Gwyn Williams. It was a close decision, but he won't be joining.

"There have been seven or eight of the top Championship clubs interested in him and the decision has been made on the fact that he's found the club where he's comfortable and feels he can develop again."

Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth are also understood to be amongst those who have made enquiries regarding the Republic of Ireland international.

Sonian......you are thinking of Ryan Nelsen at blackburn who is also a New Zealand International! We are linked with Keith Andrews, completely different player!!

Oh dear - a good player, but almost certainly means PJ will be playing a 4-5-1 next season. Disappointing - but not unexpected as PJ IS as I have always said a negative one up front manager. He'll get results, but not the crowds.

Jas can't you understand that 451 was used so much last season to get us out of a b*stard of a hole that your messiah 'Keano' got us into?! At previous clubs our manager has used a very effective 442 and as others have said what's the harm in having 3 senior central midfielders (even though I dislike Leadbitter muchly) in the squad?

Heady - let's be real, what does a captain do in football, other than lead kiddies onto the pitch (or is it the other way round?)? Even so Leadbitter will have been captain for about 5/6 games in pre season if we were to sell so hardly a long standing leader? I would sell. If Jas is so convinced that we are to be negative and boring this season maybe he should be more worried about the players rather than formation, as Leadbitter seems only programmed to pass sideways and backwards.

There's no doubting that PJ used 4.5.1 to good effect last year, pretty it ain't, but can surely produce results. Me, I'd sooner 4.4.2. but luckily PJ is the Govenor.
